Trump is running because of the reverse direction this country has been taking under Obama and the mess Hillary made in the world as Sec of State.
His relationship with many are business. He’s building buildings and if you get leftists on the planning commission, how many buildings will get blocked from being built (and how many are going to get refused and stalled) after this Trump run.
You are not allowed to be anything but a liberal democrat and be allowed to operate in some cities.
So Trump felt bad enough about what was going on to risk his own income, give him credit for that.
I think what you are saying is projection. He has threatened to run the last four times. He was going to run in 2000, before anyone knew who Obama was. It’s very clear why he runs... to feed his narcissism.
