Walker first, Trump second in Iowa Poll

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker leads a crowded field of Republican presidential contenders in the early voting state of Iowa, according to a new Monmouth University poll of likely caucusgoers.

Walker takes 22 percent in the poll released Monday, a double digit lead against all other GOP candidates with the exception of businessman Donald Trump, who has 13 percent support.

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson (8 percent), former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (7 percent), Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (7 percent) and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (6 percent) follow behind.

The poll was conducted amid Trump's controversial comments Saturday in Iowa, in which he said that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) was not a war hero because he was captured during Vietnam.

Republicans seized on the remark to condemn Trump, a celebrity real estate developer who has taken top spots in polls since launching his White House bid in mid-June.

Walker has led a slew of Iowa polls in recent weeks by similar margins to those in the most recent Monmouth poll, leading in favorability especially among tea party and very conservative voters.

The survey of 452 Iowa voters was conducted July 16-19 via landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of 4.6 points.

Iowa poll: Scott Walker cracks 20 percent, leads nearest contender by almost 10 points

This isn’t the first time he’s topped 20 percent in Iowa, but it’s the first time he’s done it in three months, a meaningful data point given that the field’s almost set now. (Kasich will formally join the race tomorrow.) Also meaningful: Walker’s the only candidate to top 20 percent in Iowa this year. Since February, the only other candidate who’s reached as high as 16 percent is Jeb Bush — and he did that only once.

Walker, who was born in Iowa, has an astounding favorable rating there among Republicans right now of 73/9. His state to lose?

“The poll was conducted amid Trump’s controversial comments Saturday in Iowa,”

Timing is everything. Would love to hear how the pollsters phrased the questions.

Looks like Walker, undecided, Trump, Cruz/Carson/Rubio/Bush tied for fourth when combined first and second scores compared.

Huffington Post:

“WASHINGTON — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) signed a bill into law on Monday that bans abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy unless the mother’s life is in danger. The legislation, which passed the GOP-controlled state legislature earlier this month, makes no exceptions for severe fetal anomalies or for victims of rape and incest.

Walker, a 2016 presidential candidate, said he supports the legislation because fetuses can feel pain at 20 weeks — an assertion that has been disputed by the mainstream medical community.”

Note to the person that wins the nomination... What is happening to Trump in the media is going to be 10x worse for the person who wins.

RINO Walker attacked Mr Trump today,
quoting ... the MSM.

RINO Walker is stupid, stupid, stupid to have not
actually read/heard/listened to what Mr. Trump said.

That said, RINO Walker apparently supports the IRS
attacks on Conservatives by McCain.

RINO Walker ... RINO Walker ... RINO Walker ...
So, some Dem attaches a RINO label to Walker and you quote them?
What Walker did to the Libs in Wisconsin over a 3-4 year period, is more than any so called Republican has done in 20 years.
BTW, Reagan is dead - get over it.

The good thing about Trump is that he is sucking the air out of the room and will quickly narrow the field to Walker, Bush, Trump (he has $), Cruz and Paul. They will all pummel Bush.Trump will flame out

Looks like the fake conservative Rubio has had a dramatic drop.

Rubio is in bottom feeding territory.

This is exactly 180 degrees from the truth.

The Propaganda Ministry has gone into Phase 4: Making S*** Up Entirely.

At the very least, the first 10 R caucus / primaries need to be states that voted R in the previous POTUS election.

Obviously Iowa and NH wouldn’t make the list.

Mike Huckabee wins Iowa Caucus 2008 GOP primary, gets GOP nomination later on. Nope, scratch that!

Rick Santorum wins Iowa Caucus 2012 GOP primary, gets GOP nomination.

Nope, scratch that too!
