While some politicians still refuse to accept the science, a new report says climate change already is influencing national and international security and warns that world leaders need to prepare for the worst.
Climate Change: A Risk Assessment released this week by the Centre for Science and Policy at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom indicates all that may not be enough. It expresses concerns about failures of entire nations, terrorism, mass migration or displacement, humanitarian crises and resource competition.
Many of those living in vulnerable areas such as Latin America and Africa consider climate change the top security threat facing their nations, according to a 40-country survey conducted earlier this year by the Pew Research Center.
The U.S. Department of Defense is already integrating climate change-related threats into its strategic planning. The Pentagons 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review describes the direct effects of climate change, such as water scarcity and disruptions in food supply, as multipliers of threats such as terrorism.

There’s more of a threat from a hundred foot marshmallow man.
Really?
Yes, and “Jade Helm 15” is just to protect us from foreign terrorists.

Isn’t that the group that had all their manipulated data exposed to the world a few years ago? Where did that get “us” skeptics?
WE can no longer respond in kind to a nuclear attack.
Halfta save the environment, don’cha know.
Or a pack of wild unicorns...
What utter nonsense from "a new report." Such propaganda reports will continue because there is no science, just a pagan religious belief.
Some politicians do not accept the 'science" simply because there is no legitimate, proven "science" to accept!

I think that studies like this are worthwhile, in the sense of trying to prepare for all possible threats. Not that we need to start implementing them, or spend a ton of money on them, but just in the general war-gaming sense of things.
Water wars might be a huge thing in the not-so-distant future. Oil of course. And I hope they thought about how global cooling will change the political-economic dynamics. That is much more likely IMHO, and with much greater bad effects on the world. Although I’m probably too naive and they didn’t even consider that possibility.
I remember when Palin was dissed by some conservatives when she commissioned a study in Alaska regarding climate change. BUT - it did look at both the effects of warming and cooling, and to determine what was at risk for either.
P.S. ...and to plan for anything less than “worst case” is utterly irresponsible, even though the planners KNOW the worst case is of vanishingly small likelihood. Having an unnecessary plan that never needs to be implemented is much better than being caught with an inadequate plan
