Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he does not owe John McCain an apology for saying the Arizona senator is only a war hero “because he was captured.”
"He's a war hero because he was captured," Trump said of McCain Saturday while at a campaign event in Iowa. "I like people who weren't captured."
Before Trump's comments, McCain had referred to those who attended a campaign event for the real estate mogul as "crazies."

Trump should understand that the MSM marches to an always advancing clock, and time will move on to the next issue. This will pass by, unless Trump gives them the excuse to keep making it a story. A media-coerced apology would be that excuse. Just ask Trent Lott how it works.

The problem is, as others might take note, Trumps supporters, as those in many political campaigns, support the veterans, to a point. Then they’ll be so happy to find a way to put the vets down if what they are saying hurts the politician

I've treated you civilly here and you're playing games now.
I told you repeatedly I am not offended by anything Trump said, nor are all the vets I know, all of which support Trump btw.
That's why I asked you why you're butt hurt and demanding apologies over this. This is not complex or somehow difficult to understand.
Bottom line, there is no apology coming from Trump. You'll have to deal with that the best way you can.

Look McCain was shot down over deep enemy territory severly injured during ejection. What was he supposed to do ?
To equivocate Patton’s remarks to what happened here is like comparing apples to tomatoes. He’s not on the ground in a line unit where there’s a chance he might make it back to his side. He’s a caucasion, injured deep in enemy asian territory and can’t walk.
You know in WWII we did have systems of extracting downed flyers and crew men even in asia. One story was depicted in 30 Secs Over Tokyo. My cousin was shot down over Germany made his way to France and was picked up and made it back to England was awarded the Air Medal.
But in McCain’s situation what were his choices ? The thing about being captured is what you do while being held by the enemy ? And did we have such a system available then ?
Then his behavior should be judged by others in the same situation not by a bunch of FR’s posting here who aren’t even considering the circumstances. Or if by some politician who is aware of how McCains peer group feels make their feelings known while ripping any questionable legislative record the man has.
