Donald Trump is facing a firestorm of controversy after his comments about Sen. John McCain's war record.
"He's not a war hero," the presidential candidate said at the 4th annual Family Leadership Summit in Iowa yesterday. "He's a war hero 'cause he was captured. I like people that weren't captured."
Many of Trump's GOP rivals have slammed his comments and called for him to back out of the 2016 race.
Trump said on "Fox and Friends Weekend" today that those calls are "total nonsense" and pointed out that he's still leading in the polls.
"This was picked up by the opponents that aren't registering in the polls," Trump said. "Everybody knows it, and everybody sees it."
Trump explained that he's upset with McCain because the Arizona senator has done a terrible job at helping veterans.

He’s using the occasion to pivot pretty good about taking care of vets while highlighting how McCain is doing the opposite as Senator.
Fox is just going berserk this morning trashing Trump. Every show and every hour is leading with the story and the commentators are slobbering all over themselves and each other to join in the trashing.
Just have them on mute to observe what they are talking about and listening to only bits here and there.
A perfect example of how the left continually confuses the notion of “hero” with that of “victim.”
Bergdahl was declared a war hero for being “captured”.
I loved it. Even Faux Newsies tried to get Trump to walk it back. He’s too smart. Once they get you to give an inch the next thing you know you are on some interview apologizing and then another and another until you are Paula Deen. I love the way Trump turns it around that McCain has screwed the vets. Its an art form.
My city's newspaper put a half page photo of trump on the front page today, with the caption, "Have you no shame?"
Trump had the chance to capture the Reagan democrats. Trump blew it.
Trump was slamming McCain for being a turd and Luntz interrupted him because he saw a chance to dig his MSM claws in.
The two have obviously been feuding and this “don’t attack a war hero” nonsense was planned by the MSM from the get go, probably coordinated with the RNC and Jeb!.
I didn’t see any outrage from any of these Rino whiners or the MSM when mcCain called Trumps followers (and his own constituents” crazy. And as far as the war hero, you can bet out of 15,000 at Trump’s event, some were actual war heroes.
watch the video if you haven’t, he wasn’t attacking his military service. that is the MSM/Rino/Jeb! spin.

If the GOPe attacked the democrats half as much as they are going after Trump they might be worth a damn. Such is not the case. The assault we are about to witness on Trump will be far more viscious and bloody that anything the GOPe and their chosen weenies will ever put up agains their democrat brothers and sisters.
Good luck to Trump, he gave them just what they needed. Otoh, I don’t really care and I can easily give him a pass on this. Heck, obama and Clinton abandoned people to die and the GOPe can bring themselves to state the truth of the matter.
But a fellow republican candidate who tells the truth? “Off with his head!” Says the GOPe Taliban....
The long and short of it is the two men do not like each other, but it seems Trump is being defined as unacceptable for the Rinos, so.....he is being savaged by the media.

Tell trump do I not only prefer hero’s that haven’t surrendered but also hero’s that haven’t made propaganda broadcasts for their captures.

Personally, I can't stand rinos.
They're just demonrats who are too scared, and don't have enough personal integrity, to come out of the closet as what they are.
Nope, those posers first have to put on a Republican mask and memorize a few conservative lines before they can go out and about in public.
I can respect a proud demonrat for standing up and being counted as such.
But I can't respect a "capon" and that's what a rino is: a castrated chicken in republican clothes.

That’s a good summary. They do this type of thing to stop debate. Remember when Bowe Bergdahl was being called a war hero to stop criticism of Obama? Same playbook only now they have the Rino’s as accomplices. I saw rick Perry with his smart glasses on Chuck Todd’s show just comping at the bit to score some points. What a loser and to think I supported him in 12 before he flamed out.
