Westboro Baptist reportedly planning to protest funerals of slain servicemen, locals plan counter-pr

A Twitter account allegedly run by Westboro Baptist church says that the congregation intends to protest the funerals of the military members killed in Chattanooga earlier this week. The account claims that God sent the shooter to kill the servicemembers and it insinuates that their murders are part of God’s punishment for America moving away from their Biblical standards.

From Times Free Press:

Claiming that God sent the gunman to the military installations in Chattanooga, Westboro Baptist on Saturday indicated that it planned to protest the funerals of the slain Marines and Sailor.

Blaming the killings in part on the acceptance of gay marriage in the U.S., the church said it would protest the funerals “with a helpful message.”

Wesboro is disgustingly out-of-line in their thinking. It sickens me to know people can be so disrespectful in light of a tragedy. Thankfully the Chattanooga community caught wind of Westboro’s plans and locals are preparing to counter the church’s picketing.

But locals have already begun planning a counter protest if Westboro does show up. A Facebook group called “Wall against Westboro” has already garnered more than 9,600 members to organize a peaceful counter protest “where we as a community show these families our admiration for their loved ones.”

In recent years, Westboro Baptist has made a name for itself by protesting the funerals of U.S. servicemen in an attempt to raise awareness of what they say is God’s vengeance for the country’s move away from what they see as Biblical standards.

In another tweet from their account, the church wrote of the dead service members: “What we know is God Hates them! The only merciful thing now is warn the living.”

This isn’t the first time the church has arranged these despicable protests. The church had also planned a protest for the funerals of the Charleston shooting victims killed in June.

I hope Westboro has a change of heart and realizes just how messed up it is to protest the funerals of the fallen military members.

Just a week or two ago, I went to the Rush “R-40” concert in Kansas City, and was surprised to see a bunch of those mooks there, protesting.

Really couldn’t figure out why, but while most of the people in the crowd waiting to get into the venue just ignored them, there were a few people shouting at them.

I am so sick and tired of this rabble! They're no Baptist church that I know of.

And yet when you mention the word 'Christian' to half of the people out there, Westboro Baptist Church is the only thing that enters their minds.

Can’t someone take it to them for a change? Go protest in front of THEIR (so called) church? I’m thinking a huge protest there with signs and chanting would have quite an impact on those heartless imbeciles.

The reason they’ve been lucky is they sue the pants off any city that won’t protect them when they protest. It’s how they make their money. I remember some instances with glee when their cars were towed and something else I can’t remember, I think it was a group of bikers who formed a ring around the funeral of a soldier who was killed in Iraq or Afghanistan.

People eating tasty animals? Hope you aren’t wearing your missing bottom chaps again, lol. I saw a bunch of those types in the parking area of one of my hunting grounds once.
I notice they never left the parking lot, good thing. Someone could have had a vertical butt stroke accident.

I like to go to their gatherings on the Harley.

Once, we took a group to the Renn Faire in Crownsville MD.

Thousands of vegan new age weirdos, there.

It was hysterical to see them “in character”, wearing tights and doublets, saying “knave” and whatnot to the hairy bikers, as they all gnawed their “steak on a stake”. It was a strange encounter between Pagan and pagan.
