GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee distanced himself from fellow candidate Donald Trump’s statements about Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Saturday.
“I said very clearly Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is a hero — Donald Trump will need to determine whether that’s a statement he needs to walk back,” Huckabee told a news conference, saying that he continues to speak only for himself.
Reporters also questioned Huckabee about Trump’s popularity, since the real estate mogul has rocketed to number one in recent polls.

WEll except for one little thing. McCain killed 134 sailors and injured 161 on the USS Forrestal. Not an enemy in sight.
Webster ...hero : a person who is admired for great or brave acts or fine qualities .
Getting captured does not make one a hero .

Just google it. Its not new. Just like its not new he barely got out of Annapolis or that he crashed 3-4 other jets before going off course and taking a short cut in Viet Nam that got him shot down. He was a total screw up in the service and then a total disgrace in the Senate.
When McCain was still in the POW camp his wife got into a horrific car accident and she was horribly injured. McCain’s family asked Ross Perot for help so he helped out financially but McCain’s wife was permanenly injured. When McCain got home he promptly dumped the wife with the limp for the beauty queen. Ross Perot has said some really bad things about McCain.
Landing on a moving ship at night is a brave act.
I did just that and I couldn’t find anything that could pin the blame on him. That is my reason for asking.

He is dumb and he is a sellout. He lied saying he would “build a dang fence” in his senate campaign. Then got elected and went back to supporting amnesty.

It's an unforced error, completely unnecessary. Was Hillary a POW ? Trump is entertaining but his unforced errors benefit those candidates who are better fielders, and appear more statesman like.
I am glad Huckster showed his colors early. Anyone who backs McCain, backs far-left liberalism.

Trump could have qualified his statement by using a medal standard as a filter (Congressional Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, etc.), but the entire episode is an error. The way to treat Jhn McCain is to thank him for his long service and move on. Trump should have ignored him, ignore others like him, and concentrate on Hillary. He needs to stay focused because if he is serious about his goal to restore this country he needs to gain the consent of all brands of Republicsns. The way to do that is not to attack other Republicans but to portray himself as most likely to defeat Hillary and restore the Republic. Like Reagan he had to be civil and open to compromise that has a conservative slant (65/35 would be realistic). Of course, Trump is not completely conservative. He is, however, completely American, a good communicator, and a proven business success story with a brand and New York moxie.
