Stephen Hayes, of The Weekly Standard and a Fox News contributor and pundit, bombarded GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump at a press conference following Trump’s speech at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa on Saturday—controlling the media availability and yelling as he argued with Trump.

Breitbart News captured part of the exchange on video, and it turns out Hayes was the pundit badgering Trump about his comment on McCain.

Funny, Trump realized he stepped in it too...you did read the articles in which these comments were made right? Here is your guy back tracking...

At a press availability following his remarks, Trump denied saying that McCain isn’t a war hero and said, “If somebody’s a prisoner, I consider them a war hero.”

Sure, I read the book. It lacked or didn’t have footnotes or sources. Really odd.

“As much as I don’t like John McCain and believe it is time for him to retire, this was uncalled for by Donald Trump”

What was uncalled for was the badgering that Trump got with the constant ‘but he is a war hero’ over and over ...

“He was slamming McCain because he was a POW.”

No. He was slamming the proctor for insisting that nothing can be said against McCain because McCain was a war hero.

he was slamming him because McCain had ridden his POW status to fame and fortune like he was something special and he’s really a lying moron who has hurt the country in so many ways since he’s been in politics.. that’s what I got out of it

Wow. That is disturbing. Thanks for the info.

I think it was uncalled for for McCain to call conservatives crazies. Trump just gave a little of it back to him.

You don't realize how much pent-up anger there is against McQueeg.

Now go join the Democrats and help them jump on Trump.

Trump doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut. This is the beginning of the end for him

So sad if true. That's how we got Obama, picking the groomed statesman who said the right things. That's how this country went to hell was letting the PC police, Democrats, and media pick our candidates. If we go with their guy, with Bush, its the beginning of the end for us.

“As much as I don’t like John McCain and believe it is time for him to retire, this was uncalled for by Donald TRUMP”

And McCain having called the conservatives who attended Trump’s speech in AZ “crazies” is acceptable? Only McCain gets to say the unacceptable? McCain slams millions of conservatives for their beliefs and Trump slams 1 person back for having done it and then you slam Trump? McCain is dangerous and borders on traitorous and you knock Trump. You’ve fallen for the PC war hero baloney that’s been jammed down our throats for years.

I believe Trump put his foot in his mouth with this.

**************

I suspect Trump will put his foot there a few more times if he doesn’t learn how to respond
or refuse to respond to questions. The fact that McCain can goad Trump a bit and get his reaction
doesn’t necessarily speak well of Trump. JMO.

McCain said the business mogul had “fired up the crazies”. That may well be but Trump
best learn how to respond or not respond or he’ll be be constantly on the defense
once others learn they can goad him.

“Trump screwed the pooch.”

On the contrary, Trump will go up in popularity even more because he spoke the truth about Juan McCain who is a fraud.

Disagree. Don’t start nothing won’t be nothing. McCreep called Trump’s supporters crazies, and he got punched in the mouth. this was a shot at McCain where it hurt, nothing more.

Hayes likes to parrot establishment talking points so this is no surprise. He needs to say such things to keep the cocktail party DC invitations coming in.

Let’s see the poll numbers in a week. I find it refreshing that one person is willing to speak the truth.

I feel like a character in an Orwell novel.

I watched the video and have no problem with anything Trump said.

Concerning McCain, I knew he was no good when he hugged Colonel Trang, his NVA torturer, in 1992 and then turned his back on the POW-MIA families, seeking an accounting on the couple of hundred men we KNEW were left behind in Vietnam.

What “war hero” would ever do something like that?

Since then, McCain has been a disaster for the country and for the GOP, with his horrible run for President in 2008 being Exhibit A.

I voted for the girl.

Larry...you are so wrong.

I have followed Trump for 35 years. He's a wild card but he knows how to dominate the news.

And he's a strait-shooter.

Don't count him out.

Trump went too far. He even lost Curt Shilling.

Trump has a tendency to put his foot in his mouth. He recently made a remark about Charles Krauthammer(in a wheelchair) “not being able to buy a pair of pants”. He claims he was talking about someone else but I’m not stupid.

He is lucky that remark didn’t blow up like this one will. This one will leave a mark.
