Yes, I think you are right.

They have had referendums over the years on this subject. I don’t think they ever voted for statehood.

Officially, I think Puerto Rico is a “commonwealth” overseas possession of the United States, is that still true? Puerto Ricans are American citizens, but there are some areas, such as federal income tax, in which they are not held to the same laws as the rest of us, because PR is not a state.

I guess I don’t see why Puerto Rico can’t just stay with the same legal status. Nobody ever suggests that the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, etc. become states. Not sure why so many have pushed PR statehood.

USVI, Guam, etc are not in default and on the verge of bankruptcy.

Yeah, they have the best of the bargain. Jeb-boy seems obsessed with Hispanics to the exclusion of everybody else. It’s not healthy.
