The largest state association for the criminal defense bar in the nation has said that it would be “shocking” for a Waco Police Department detective to sit on a grand jury in the Twin Peaks biker cases.
Breitbart Texas reported that one of the two McLennan County criminal district court judges named a Waco police detective foreman over a newly-selected grand jury. This grand jury could end up determining the fate of some, or all, of the 177 bikers arrested at the Twin Peaks restaurant on May 17. The shoot-out killed nine bikers and wounded twenty others. Law enforcement officials and judges have been soundly criticized for their handling of these cases.
Sam E. Bassett, the president of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (TCDLA) has issued a statement on behalf of the organization saying it is their hope that this grand jury does not decide the biker cases.
The TCDLA is the largest state association for criminal defense attorneys in the United States. The organization provides assistance, support, and education to its 3,200 members – the “who’s who” of the criminal defense profession in Texas.
The statement from the TCDLA rebukes the Waco judge for appointing a Waco police detective as foreman over a grand jury that may decide the biker cases. The president of the group, Sam Bassett, stated the appointment “is shocking, even though within the technical requirements of the law regarding grand jury service.”
Bassett writes, “The fact that a District Judge approved this appointment makes it even more concerning.”
The criminal defense lawyer from Austin, Texas, asks: “Imagine a private investigator for one of the defendants’ attorneys being appointed to the grand jury considering the case?” The lawyer continues, “That would not be any more appropriate.”

Personally speaking, the defense bar is typically a pack of bleeding-heart liberals. Not that this cautionary observation of theirs is wrong, just that the messenger carries some baggage.
Not that they are wrong, but their moral taint makes them wrong anyhow. Uh huh.
I think they are right. Just saying that this organization makes a living getting guilty defendants off on technicalities. That's "baggage."
If the prosecutor's bar piped up that the GJ is tainted with appearance of impropriety, the same position taken by the defense bar, it would have more of an impact.
“Senator Whitmire continued, “Starting with a police officer as the foreman of the grand jury is a horrible start. I am surprised the U.S. Department of Justice has not gotten involved.””
DOJ get involved? Not for a bunch of white guys, old white guys, ‘white hispanics’ and three white women.

Putting a Waco PD detective on the Grand Jury would be like putting TexasGator on the Grand Jury.
Total and complete corruption where we are supposed to see honesty and justice. Not in this case though. No way.
It would make this legal proceeding a total joke just like TG is.
Next thing you know; either TG or the detective will be parked under the black robe of the judge who presides over each case giving him or her oral.
There just isn’t any way possible for those 177 good people to get a fair trial. I say good people because until the time they are convicted of a crime; it is how our judicial system works. Innocent until proven guilty regardless of what the corrupt TG’s in the world say.
For all we know right now since no facts, reports, or good video of the case have been released; it’s safe to assume peter puffers like TG are to blame for this massacre. Who they are exactly has yet to be determined and if this country keeps being sucked down that rabbit hole; we may never really know just like the JFK assassination.
That’s like pointing out that the government is often full of itself too... sauce for goose is sauce for gander.

Nobody should be a robbing, killing ruffian. I hope that is glaringly obvious.
But still I’m curious how much stealing and killing has gone on with the bikers as compared to what has gone on with our modern government?
Just because you formally get to define what stealing and killing are, doesn’t make you not involved in it.
The day when there was a clear Mr. Clean on earth to associate with may be swiftly drawing to a close. And that’s because, on a broad basis, God has just been forgotten.
Also glaringly obvious:
Either Texas lawmen are profoundly inept, if only one third out of 177 alleged robbing, killing, ruffians had prior criminal records, even when said ruffians wear public signage (patches) announcing their criminality ...
... OR
...two thirds of 177 alleged robbing, killing, ruffians are so wily and accomplished that they can avoid Texas lawmen even when said ruffians wear public signs (patches) identifying themselves as criminals ...
OR
...Many, if not most or all, of the bikers are FALSELY alleged by some to be robbing, killing ruffians.
