Beijing (AFP) - China has begun building a 314-metre (1,030-ft) high dam which will be among the world's tallest, officials said, as the country massively expands hydropower.
The Shuangjiankou dam on a tributary of China's mighty Yangtze river will be completed in 2022, the environmental ministry said on its website Tuesday.
The facility, costing 36 billion yuan ($5.8 billion), will be higher than the world's current tallest dam, the 305-metre Jinping-1, also in China.
China has been expanding its hydropower electricity generating capacity as it seeks to reach a goal of obtaining 20 per cent of its power from non-fossil sources by 2030.
Beijing says reaching the target will help reduce growth in its carbon emissions responsible for climate change, the world's largest.

Just not many produce electricity.

They already have 3 dams about that high. It’s not a big deal. It is a feat.

Here's an approximation of what the view might be like here.
All of that would be underwater.

If the legend of
Yu the Great is to be believed, the Chinese have been building flood control structures* for about 4000 years. Hydro dams are old wine in new bottles.
* Here's a snippet about an ancient canal built around the time the Spartan King Leonidas's rearguard force was annihilated by Xerxes's invading army at Thermopylae:
In 486 BCE, Fuchai built the Han Canal, a 185 kilometre connection between the Yangzi and Huai Rivers that was later incorporated into the Grand Canal.

I certainly like your style of thinking!
Americans are the most innovative for the kind of ideas you suggest.

Everybody always beating up on human progress. I want to see even bigger and higher dams. Especially in United States. Let's dam the Mississippi - I mean, really dam it. So when hurricane moves into the Gulf, we can just empty out the Mississippi south of St. Louis and let the surge flow upstream. We can divert the Mississippi water out to California where they need the water. We need to build big pipes. You'd have to contend with those who see the human race as a pox upon the universe.

What could go wrong you ask...? How about an earthquake for starters The more water impounded behind these 'mega dams', the more force piled on the crust below. This already has caused tremors at seven gorges as the reservoir fills. If there are existing fault lines below the added weight could lead to a dramatic failure. The more dams, the more likely there is trouble down the road.

GtG

So when hurricane moves into the Gulf, we can just empty out the Mississippi south of St. Louis and let the surge flow upstream. We can divert the Mississippi water out to California where they need the water. Big on dreams, minuscule on physics, politics, civil engineering and financial realities. Sounds like a liberal..

I wonder what the PSI will be. No idea. I am not an engineer.
The fact those auxiliary gates were not built until 45 years after the lake was formed surprised me.
April 27, 2011 it was reported that the lake level record was set at 335.3 feet above sea level.(http://articles.ky3.com/2011-04-27/water-release_29477084)
Top of the Flood Pool is stated by the Corps as 931 feet above sea level
The information I pasted to my reply above was from Wikipedia. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_Rock_Lake)
Perhaps some of the information at those two web sites or The US Army Corps of Engineers, Little Rock web site will be helpful in answering your question.
