Clinton's speech was filled with economic proposals that are broadly popular with Democrats as she triangulates between appealing to the centrist voters she'll need to defeat the GOP nominee next year and the populist Democratic base coalescing around Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders during the primary season.
"Wages need to rise to keep up with costs. Paychecks need to grow," she declared. "The defining economic challenge of our time is clear. We must raise incomes for hard-working Americans so they can afford a middle-class life."
Clinton outlined dozens of policy proposals, calling for a minimum wage increase, guaranteed paid sick and family leave, universal preschool for 4-year-olds, closing tax loopholes on wealthy Americans and corporations, increasing union strength and reducing health care costs. She framed equal pay for women, investments in clean energy and immigration reform as economic as well as moral imperatives.
"We can't afford to leave talent on the sidelines," she said. We should be making it easier for Americans to be both good workers and good parents and caregivers."
Clinton promised to unveil policies to encourage businesses to share their profits more with their workers.

She doesn’t know jack squat about economics, as evidenced by everything she regurgitated.
Ah yes Hillary, pounce on the failures of the past eight years. Utopia should be within grasp when you are President. Seriously, I’d have more respect for her if she used that time and place to try to sell ocean front property in Saskatchewan or Nebraska.
New York City School? Wow. What a hotbed of contention that would challenge her candidate skills.
Why? Well, it’s a safe venue - she always goes for those. Nothing left to chance, nothing unscripted, nothing un-choreographed. But, heck! She could sit in her Chappaquiddick living room (I call it that) and speech out a performance script somebody else wrote for her just as well. Play by media would be just like at that school.
So why? Could it be that her team is really worried about Bernie Sanders? Does she now HAVE to get out in public even in safe blue areas to show people she’s really still alive?
I would think she would introduce her economic plans in North Korea or China.
you cant bring up wages with 43% unemployment
What about jobs for Americans, NOT immis on H1-B visas?
If you don’t have a job, it doesn’t matter how big paychecks grow!!!!
PHOOEY to Hillary!!!! No MORE H1-B visas!!!!
Note the STUPID letter from the creep from OREGON. Oregon—the Assisted Suicide and Bake-The-Cake-Or-Else State!!!!
Why do costs go up forcing a wage price spiral or worse still hyperinflation? The worst examples of price increases all have been do to bad government economic policies. High taxes get passed on to consumers as higher prices. Ditto the cost of government regulations. Unrestrained government spending without economic growth gives us the situation in Greece. The government just printing money gives us the utter ridiculous prices like we see in Zimbabwe. It would seem that Hillary’s economic ideas would just stick it to consumers as higher prices.
Hillary’s economic policy is real simple
“You make it. I take it.”
The only economic principle that Hillary Clinton knows is that if you want her to show up and give an hour speech, it costs you or your institution $300K.
She could teach a course in speculating in cattle futures...
Hillary Clinton talks economics at New School in New York City
Economics?? Hillary? Is this a joke. Should have waited until Friday Funnies.
Listened to part of her “speech” at the top of the hour radio news break. It was like she was speaking to five year olds.
Hildabeast slams the “trickle down” theory in favor of the Democrats’ “trickle up” theory where they keep taxing and taking your money, letting it trickle up to them where they, in their infinite wisdom, know how to better spend it than you do.
What does any of that have to do with raising middle class wages? If you want to raise wages we can start by stopping the in flow of people willing to work for peanuts.
That being said this is going to be a populist election and if the GOP doesn’t come up with conservative, populist message they are toast.
If the GOP gets their act together the battle in 2016 will be between a big government nanny state populism and small government, less regulation, more freedom populism. We should be reframing our side as the party of true choice in your life. Choice in education, healthcare, housing, how you raise your kids, what food you eat, car you drive and of course freedom to practice your religion of choice. For too long we have allowed the Left, the big government fascists, to cloak themselves in the mantle of choice. But of course to them choice means only the choice to kill their unborn children.
Hillary: Ok kids, you lie your way to the top then continue to be unethical to stay there. Pay off “journalists” with taxpayer money funneled to them as speaker fees. Accept bribes from anyone and I mean anyone such as North Korea who wanted a nuclear bomb or any mideast country. So what if 14,000 people are killed or wounded on a single day.
You keep raking in the money from the Saudi’s who want to keep finacing terror around the world. Don’t forget the business ceo’s who want their competitors blocked, you can make a mint taking their money. You make sure they are paid back with taxpayer money. Bribed congressman too to pretend to investigate. This will drag out for years but it is just a kabuki dance.
Any questions? BTW I do not take questions. That is another tip for you.
