GOP strategists to Jeb: Treat Trump with kid gloves (Heheh)
thehill.com ^ | Alexander Bolton

Posted on 07/12/2015 11:50:44 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Strategists say Bush is smart not to exchange haymakers with Trump, who has a reputation for escalating fights and not backing down.

“The best way is for Bush to continue to put Trump in his place by saying his comments are only intended to generate headlines, they’re not based in real facts,” said Ron Bonjean, a GOP strategist and former congressional GOP leadership aide.

“What Bush is obviously trying to do is not get into a food fight with Donald Trump but at the same time push back. It’s a careful line to tread. You don’t want to create a sideshow spectacle by taking Trump’s bait,” he added.

While Bush has appeared presidential by responding calmly to Trump’s barbs, he has expressed some irritation at the media whirlwind they generate.

Bush said in a Fox News interview Wednesday he was not interested in getting into a rhetorical battle with the billionaire candidate.

"I'm done. I'm through. I gave my views. I just think that we need to be much more hopeful and optimistic about our ideology," he said.

"We should focus on that and not get into a food fight that only brings energy to someone who I doubt will be president and is not a constructive force for our party," he added.

GOP strategists say Bush will continue to benefit from Trump as long as he doesn’t get dragged too far off message in responding to his digs.

In other words, treat Trump like he treats the Democrats.

Which means that Trump wins.

I guess they don't want him destroying the national party like he did to California's Republica Party.

Who was out here in California calling us Prop187 voters bigots, xenophobes, purveyors of hate, destroyers of the Republcan Party.. and worse?

Jeb Bush, Jack Kemp, and William Bennett.

Prop 187 won IIRC with the support of about 30% of the "Hispanic" vote (about what Republicans get anyway), Pete Wilson won re-election actively supporting Prop 187, and IIRC the Republicans won the Assembly.

Ever since the Republicans followed the advice of the aforementioned "experts" I think that there has been two Republicans win statewide elections and one of them is Schwarzenkennedy.

California is a one-party state including the Republican Democrat-wannabes.

The problem that Bush has is that he is well considered the establishment candidate. And, from past experience, the unwashed know that if he is elected he will fall into line and become the same as the Democrats want him to be.

Trump is verbalizing what the unwashed masses think and wish they had an outlet to voice their thoughts.

Those who they thought might speak for them have been dismal failures. Feckless patoots.

The Jebster is past saving. Trump gave him a chance a few weeks ago when Trump backed off “because his wife told him to”. Anyone who’s watched Celebrity Apprentice knows that Trump isn’t real big on second chances.

Yeb Bush has a problem.

His message is that we must give up the rule of law and our country.

Citizens of other countries who broke into our country must be accomodated, not punished, for their crimes.

Citizens of this country who don’t like their country flooded with fraudulently documented foreigners and its attendent costs, both human and financial, need to shut up.

Go Yeb !

Jebbers can do dat—remember he let that little, corrupt, baldy swamp judge in Florida roll over him and stop him from saving Terri Schiavo. The lion called Trump will be totally avoided-—but it won’t help Jebbers any. Buenos noches senor Jebbers.

> First they said Trump would not run.
He filed the forms to officially run.

> Then they said Trump will drop out.
Many businesses cut ties with Trump to look PC.
Trump did not flinch, doubled down.

> Then they said Trump was a past donor to democrats.
Do those low information people know that all large
businesses donate to both parties? Do they know the
total donations by Trump to democrats are less than
0.01% of his net worth? I would posit he is stingy
with democrats.

> Then they said Trump was in this race to help Hillary,
by running on 3rd party. I saw his interview on TV.
This is what he said “Hillary is the worst SOS ever!”
“Hillary would make a terrible president”
“My best chance to defeat the democrats is running
on the republican ticket, 3rd party is a bad idea”.

> Then they said Trump will never file his financial statement.
Trump said yesterday he will file financial statement this week.

> Then they said Trump is not as rich as he says.
Trump said yesterday, people will see when he files
his financial statement, he is actually more rich!

“The best way is for Bush to continue to put Trump in his place by saying his comments are only intended to generate headlines, they’re not based in real facts,” said Ron Bonjean, a GOP strategist and former congressional GOP leadership aide.

This is very, very good advice for Jeb Bush to follow. Keep saying that Trump's comments are not based on real facts! See how much and how quickly the popularity of Jeb will rise NOT!

“GOP strategists to Jeb: Treat Trump with kid gloves (Heheh)”

Same advice the strategists gave to Dole, McCain and Romney. Proven strategy, for failure, as Jeb’ brother George demonstrated when after Katrina he gave up any pretense of fighting for anything and became a punching bag for the media and the Democrats.

I watched Trumps speech. One of Trumps recurring themes is these are not “smart people”. Trump is correct. How many times do you have to fail before trying a new strategy, particularly one your opposition uses with great effectiveness?

Once Trump has gained #1 status in the polls he’s not going to back away from it easily. His fierce ego won’t let him— that’s ok as long as he does what is good and right for America. We will see though-— for now all systems go.

They don’t care to win. They live off campaign cash, not winning.

The only way to defeat these bastards is to cut off their sources of funding.

Think Trump would get a dime from them?

LOL, he is going to destroy their mold the same way Reagan did. Good for him.
