Rick Perry Solves Sanctuary Cities
Patriot Post ^ | 7/9/15 | Staff

“In Texas, we have a long history of welcoming immigrants from all over the world, immigrants who have helped make our economy the strongest in the country,” former Texas governor and presidential candidate Rick Perry said today. “It’s not fair that some people try to jump the immigration line by coming across our border illegally. One of the core responsibilities of the federal government is to secure the border. As the recent tragedy in San Francisco has shown us, it’s important for the federal government and local governments to be able to cooperate to apprehend illegal immigrants with criminal histories. San Francisco — and many other cities in America run by left-wing governments — have become ‘sanctuary cities’ that choose to openly defy U.S. immigration law and prevent cooperation with federal authorities. Perversely, the federal government subsidizes this behavior by sending Justice Department funds to cities that intentionally harbor illegal immigrants in their jails. This has to end. Today, I am proposing to pull funding for the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program — or SCAAP — from sanctuary cities.

Sorry, La Raza Rick, too little, too late.

Years of pandering to Mexicans have solidified voters views of most of the GOP field. We know which one has been on the side of the citzens and which ones have been on the side of the illegal aliens and their employers.

I’d only want to welcome legal immigrants, and I’d add that we don’t need more immigrants here at this time. Please check back later.

Look—there is something all of us can do to help America.

Call your Senators and Congressional reps and tell them that you want legislation to end sanctuary towns, cities and states, and if the places refuse to overturn their sanctuary policies, then not one dime of Federal money for anything.

We cannot have some laws followed and some not. That is anarchy.

Also demand a wall be physically built at the Mexican border.

14 years after 9/11 and 44 years after the war on Drugs began, we still have unlimited amounts of drugs and people coming across this border to our detriment.

www.senate.gov

www.house.gov

Look up your reps and call them.

They want this to blow over.

But 2016 is coming, and the entire House and one third of the Senate is up for re-election.

These clowns don’t give a damn about America as long as their pockets are lined, but the thing they fear most is being kicked out of DC and the access to the gravy train.

In another two weeks, they go away for all of August on their recess, and they hope like hell that you won’t be as pissed about the illegals when they come back.

We can’t just let one or two candidates fight the battle.

So get up and call.

And then make a donation to FreeRepublic—we are 10 days in and only at 10%. Every gift would be appreciated, and helps keep us connected.

It took 2 months for Perry to deploy his guard to the border, while he had
his finger in the wind. And when he did, they were unarmed illegal babysitters.

It’s no surprise that Perry is only acting NOW on his own Sanctuary Cities
AFTER the death of that beautiful young woman in SF.
Not before.

Perry is a fraud.

Just curious...

What should Perry, or any other governor, do to protect the federal border?

And if you believe there is something they should do, who do you propose should pay for it?

It’s about damn time. Dallas, Austin, and Houston have been known SCs for years.

Funny how NOW he’s suddenly moved to do something about it...

(Sorry Rick. I saw through your crap when I lived under your rule. Too little, too late.)

Perry never solved a thing. Texas still has sanctuary cities. He didn’t lift a finger about those cities.

How about uphold the laws of the State. No new taxes are required to do that. Your argument suggests nothing can be done and there is no money to pay to do anything and that is a completely asinine and false position, something a liberal would say to try to shut people up.

Send out his guard to the the job Feds won’t do.
Apparently, he thought he could do it, because after 2 months of
illegals flooding his border, he sent his guard out(unarmed)
after he stuck his finger in the wind to gauge public opinion.
If he he did it once, he can do it again, unless the first time was just a
photo-opt.

And only NOW he is proposing that funds be cut off to his Sanctuary cities.

Where has Perry been?

Rick Perry, trying hard and still failing to be relevant.

You forgot San Antonio, which is practically the home of La Raza Unida & the Latin American Unity Council (LULAC). Former mayor, Julian Castro (now 0bama’s HUD Secretary), & his twin brother, Joaquin, who is in the US Senate- are the sons of Rosie Castro, who goes back decades in activist politics.

http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/article/From-political-matriarch-the-sons-also-rise-3905913.php

Rick Perry figures this is the side his bread is buttered on & will play both sides as much as he can.

Perry sounded exactly like the left wing press, the RINOS and all lefties when he attacked Trump for speaking the truth. Who’s side is he on? Americans or people that aren’t citizens of the USA?

So to keep this on track, my question was in regards to securing the border only. tennmountainman suggested that Perry’s response was toothless and underwhelming.

Fine.

My question is what can a governor of a state do and who funds it?

If your answer is to send armed troops and detain/deport, etc., I’d suggest that’s outside the scope of his authority.

Perry DID do something...quite a lot of things. Cost us Texans in excess of $750,000,000, if my remembering is right.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not defending everything Perry’s done or not done. But I’m always a little disturbed when people say he/Texans should have secured the Texas border on his own.

I’d like to hear how folks think that should have been done.

He sent his guard out once, so apparently he thought he could do something, regardless of what the Feds did or did not do.

States also have their OWN State budgets.

Was there there not something Perry could cut to his own Sanctuary Cities
through the State Budget?

“Perry DID do something...quite a lot of things.”

Maybe you can enumerate exactly what he did.

"...How about uphold the laws of the State. No new taxes are required to do that. Your argument suggests nothing can be done and there is no money to pay to do anything and that is a completely asinine and false position, something a liberal would say to try to shut people up..."

Two things here:

1. I didn't say that;

2. Please outline the laws of Texas that Perry should have "upheld" relating to enforcing the Federal border with Mexico and what funds are available to do that;

3. What is it with you guys? How come when someone, a FReeper even, asks a question you don't like (or maybe didn't read), you've got to begin casting aspersions, calling the position "asinine" or "false"...or even equating them with liberals trying to "...shut people up.."?

I don't get it. Just read the question and answer it.

Or are some of you people just looking for a fight?
