The Detroit Police Department is suffering from its worst manpower shortage in nearly a century.
There are currently fewer officers patrolling the city than at any time since the 1920s. At one point, the Detroit police force was over 5,000. Today, the force is just 1,590 officers strong and not all of those are on the street.
The city has lost nearly half its patrol officers since 2000 and ranks have shrunk by 37 percent in the past three years alone, according to the Detroit News. Its so bad that precincts are reportedly left with only one squad car at times.

Dems already did that over a period of 50 years.
According to liberals the less police the lower the crime and oppression. In a couple short years Detroit should be one giant utopia like Liberia.
Let’s get Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick on this immediately.
Oh, is he still in jail?
Ten year old bullies run playgrounds with more foresight and quiet dignity than he ran one of America's once-great cities.
Detroit should un-incorporate nearly everywhere except downtown
Those whites are probably the white “poverty profiteers” found in every urban toilet - the ineffective teachers and cops paid by non-city residents via taxes (wealth re-distribution).
NJ cities are having this same problem; they can’t afford basic services, and the state tap has been turned off. This is what drives Obama’s national socialist agenda; he needs primarily non-black taxpayers to foot the bills (ALL bills - rent, food, schools, cops, cellphones, etc.)for primarily black urban centers.
That’s an interesting photo which has nothing to do with the story. That photo is copyright restricted by the Boston Globe and as such cannot be posted here.
The Boston Globe photo made its apparent first appearance in a Boston Globe article on November 24, 2008.
Detroit Has Fewest Revenue Collection Agents Patrolling Streets In Nearly 100 Years
There, fixed it for ya.
Does anyone “live” in deetroit anymore?
It hasn’t been addressed widely yet but law enforcement is bleeding EXPERIENCED officers to the private sector or going to higher paying agencies in predominately white cities.
Blame Ferguson and Baltimore; the general consensus is it’s not worth the hassle anymore.
I know of five who went into the private sector in the last six weeks.
We’ve made sure the cops serving our suburban city know we have their backs.
That pretty much says it all.
Kilpatrick, Federal Bureau of Prisons Register #44678-039, is serving his sentence at Federal Correctional Institution, El Reno in El Reno, Oklahoma. There is no parole in the federal prison system. However, with time off for good behavior, his earliest possible release date will be August 1, 2037when he will be 67 years old. (from Wikipedia)
It had everything to do with the story as did: 14 posted on 7/10/2015, 12:40:27 AM by Ken H.
Detroit Has Fewest Cops Patrolling Streets In Nearly 100 Years.. My post was simple: What’s to patrol and the picture was a pile of garbage much like Detroit.
I did an image google search for garbage pile and that pic popped up and I selected it.
Didn’t realize the Boston Globe.
