Reading is fundamental. It says “back” and not “run against.”

“I would have to see who the nominee is,” he said.

Based on some of the Republicans running for the nomination, Trump's statement is the only sensible thing a man can say.

We have GOT to give up the "lesser of two evils" approach. If the GOP nominee is someone like Jeb, it is vital that Conservatives abandon the GOP en masse.

Who would possibly promise to back Jeb?

I was forced due to Thread Naming Conventions... to USE that Headline....as the Threads NAME.

Trump vows long campaign, won’t commit to backing GOP nominee,

the KEY here...is:

Trumpleft the door open for a third-party bid of his own. “I would have to see who the nominee is,” he said.

THIRD PARTY.... hes "leaving the door open"

I don't see why he has to commit to some idiot repug like Bush. I'm favoring Cruz so I don't have a dog in this fight but Trump trumpets to a different drummer so why should he commit to supporting someone he doesn't like or respect?

But he posited that he would consider dropping out of the race if he senses that he cannot win.

“I have a huge staff — I have a big staff in Iowa, New Hampshire, all over,” Trump said. “I absolutely stay in. If for some reason I think it’s not going to happen, I’m not a masochist. You understand that, right? . . . I’m like a smart person. I went to the Wharton School of finance. I built a great company.”

"won’t commit to backing GOP nominee"

That makes two of us. McQueeg was insulting enough, Willard was the last straw. El Jebbe or the other illegal criminal invading ass-kissing clowns won't ever get my vote.

ht emention of the third party is the sole reason I posted the article.

I think he’s in it to go third party

I well remember what happened the last time a third party candidate took a relatively large slice of the Republican Vote

Its name was Bill and Hillary Clinton

Of course he’s not going to commit a plan to back anyone who wins the nom. Too many variables between now and then.

Mentioned by the reporter, not DT.

For those who don’t know, that’s a negative question meant to plant the suggestion that he might not win. A subliminal tactic intended to chip away at Trump’s confidence, and the confidence of his supporters.

Being a wise man, The Donald did not take the bait.

Trump won’t run 3rd party. He doesn’t like losing. He just said he may not “back” who the nominee may be. I think that is reasonable since many have attacked him viciously.

The WaPo is behind this in order to cause trouble.

People, beware of lefty news sources in particular, but not exclusively.

"Hello Donald Perot"

Saying something over and over does not make it true.

Incredible line of logic: DT must be exactly the same as RP, because I think so. And a Washington Times reporter agrees with me.

I understand what you’re saying. If that happens, it will be a problem - but I don’t think Bush is any better than Clinton. In fact, they’re the terrible twins. I fear for my country!

That’s really it. The presupposition in the question is unacceptable. Amateur hour didn’t get it past the DOnald.

Trump is playing it just right with his 3rd party threats. This puts the GOP honchos on notice that if they sabotage him via dirty tactics, that he will sabotage a GOP win by running third party. SMART by THE Donald.

I agree about leaving the GOP. The GOP has not considered the fact that Trump will appeal to many Democrats and Independents.

I’m going to give you some background information on Ross Perot and then you will understand why he went against GHWB. Bush stabbed him in the back. I’ll dig up the article and post it for you to read. It’s very interesting.
