During a Wednesday Hardball discussion with former Democratic senator and presidential candidate Gary Hart, Matthews asked about “the ideological direction of the party right now” and added that Bernie Sanders is bringing a kind of 1960s message to Democratic politics.
The Hardball host then transitioned to discuss Hillary Clinton, making a dubious observation: “Hillary Clinton [is] more of a conservative in a sense of more of a traditional politician from the center, center.”
(This wasn't the first time Matthews offered this formulation. On Meet the Press in late May, Matthews insisted: “If Hillary Clinton is a lefty, I didn't know it, okay. She’s not a lefty. She is a centrist politician, a Democratic, a mainstream Democrat.”)

Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless, is flat-out, one of the least competent people EVER to aspire to what has become the Rainbow Hut. Never armed with very much of a conviction about anything except attaining and holding political power, Herself has the additional character defect of being a secretive and scheming villainess, Cruella de Ville, the Wicked Witch of the West, and Catherine de’ Medici all rolled into one. Managing to be both ruthless and arrogant, Herself is clearly in declining physical health, and there may be some other underlying emotional problems as well.
Herself does not use power well, and every time it has been handed over to Herself, things simply do not get better.

As idiotic as Matthews generally is on politics he might actually have a point. The Democratic Party has gone so far extremist left that even an old Alinskyite liberal like Hillary would be considered a conservative in that party today.
