So when people ask me about the Mexican illegal aliens, I just say that I am uncomfortable with being complicit with the Mexican ethnic cleansing by elite and rich Spanish descent Mexicans against their indigenous population. That certainly changes the conversation. Often stops it.

The GOP-E wants a FRESH supply of illegals. Ted’s comments begs the question, “What do we OWE those who are already here?” NOTHING. Not one should ever gain citizenship.

I realize that companies abuse programs. My point is that if there are enough H1-Bs in the country for multiple companies to abuse the program, there are probably too many of them. I work IT and I know good American IT people out of work as it is now. Adding a bunch more will do nothing but put more fully capable Americans out of work. It took my very qualified and experienced son 3 years to find a job that pays almost as much as the one he lost in 2011 and that is in one of the better job markets in the country. If there really is a shortage of IT people, that should not happen. The problem for companies like Facebook and Google is not a shortage of qualified American IT people, their problem is a shortage of Amercan IT people who will work for minimum wage. With over 90,000,000 Americans out of work, I think we can wait until this imaginary shortage of qualified IT people actually manifests itself, which it likely never will. Making big donor crony capitalists richer should not be a major factor in setting our immigration policies.

I have also heard him say in two interviews now that it is the place to start (securing the border) because it is the one issue that both sides claim to agree upon.

Personally, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Cruz believes the same, I don’t think that the dems (and many repubs too) want a secure border. To focus on just this issue first and get this done exposes that.

You either want to secure the border or not. Get it done and prove that it is working and then we’ll talk about proceeding. I think that is what Cruz is saying.

When they get legal they stop being cheap.

Wrong, they are already stealing billions in tax-payer provided services they have NO RIGHT TO!

Ted Cruz doesn’t have to disclose how he would defeat ISIS, it’s a matter of trust like Reagan had with his voters.
Unlike Obama or Hillary , we know and trust like Reagan that Ted Cruz will do what is right for America and protect America, unlike Rand Paul where we know he would reduce military spending.

Rand Paul is weak on defense.

Yes, precisely.

*You can’t handle the truth!*

Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the Marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago’s death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties, you want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

Please educate yourself before making such comments. Else, when someone wants to falsely attack another FReeper, they will start with something like, “As opposed to what Code Toad....”

The problems we have right now are caused by "Washington Cartel." They are not for the people. They are smothering job-creating small businesses with ScotusCare, taxes and regulations. We used to have a lot of tech startups. It's a lot cheaper to start a business outside the U.S. now, unfortunately.

U.S. tech startups: An endangered species?

Notice the sharp drops in both tech and overall startups after 2008.

Hopefully we will have a new president to turn this country around and clean up Washington, not just manage the decline.

Your little Breibart-Facebook-Zuckerberg support for Senator Jeff is not associated with the talent that pays top dollar. It is associated with the cheap labor express.

The cheap labor express is what H-1B is currently about - and I find no record of Cruz saying he's change that.

More evidence that America has no "shortage" of tech workers.

I trust Cruz to do what he's said he'll do - it's what he hasn't said that troubles me.

> The cheap labor express is what H-1B is has currently about become under Obama and Bush before him -

Big difference.

> "and I find no record of Cruz saying he's change that."

Despite your grammatical errors, I take you to mean that Ted Cruz will expand the H1B caps so that more 'cheap labor' will be admitted into the United States. That's laughable and absurd. It goes against every principle he stands for. In fact it's not even worthy of response. You have not found any record because you have not looked nor bothered to research his committee testimony nor called his offices.

I told you to do these things before but you insist in not doing your homework. He will not repeat his position now to the "ConservingFreedom's" of the blogosphere because you represent 0.000000001% of the voters he is speaking to. He revealed his anti-cheap labor stance in this article in relation to amnesty which the vast majority of voters are concerned about. His time, words, conversations and discussions are reserved for voters that have higher priority issues like amnesty, judicial activism, healthcare. He has little or no time for forum kooks that are not genuinely interested in learning but rather in detracting.

What you offer is reason to suspect he may alter H-1B's current cheap-labor aspect, but is far from definitive.

You have not found any record because you have not looked

Mind-reading? Don't quit your day job.

You were told to research his subcommittee testimony, to call his offices. You won’t do the work. You reveal yourself to be a heckler rather than a serious contributor to the forum.

Here are phone numbers for Ted Cruz’ offices:

202-224-5922 Senate Office
713-353-4330 Campaign Office

This is all you are getting until you come back with a useful contribution to the forum.

You can stop right there, windbag. You don't tell me to do squat - just consider your favored candidate lucky he's not judged by your boorish behavior.

Of course that would be your response. Because you have nothing of value to add or contribute, and because you won’t do the necessary work required, you resort to ad hominem attacks. That’s a liberal characteristic. You are better suited to join with the queers over at the Huffington Post Blog because you are of like mind to them.
