Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas said the "divisive" issue of what to do about the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants who live in the United States distracts from the problem of securing the borders.
"My view is first, we secure the borders and solve the problem of illegal immigration. And then I think we can have a conversation about what to do about the people who remain here," the Republican presidential candidate said on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday.
When pressed on the issue of the 11 million people already here he said, "President Obama and the Democrats focus on that issue because the question you're asking is the most divisive partisan question in this entire debate. And I don't believe President Obama wants to solve this."
Cruz also accused members of his own party of being supportive of "amnesty" or giving undocumented immigrants who arrived illegally a way to stay in the United States.
"A lot of Republicans in the Washington cartel, they're all for amnesty too because from the perspective of the chamber of commerce and Wall Street, it's cheap labor," he said.
Nothing will change until it’s their schools that get over crowded, until their police forces are overwhelmed, until their children are raped and murdered.
I’ve spent years defending the wealthy and their right to be so. I’ve spent years fighting the naked envy and hatred of the left. Now? Things have changed. I’m just going to laugh when the left destroys them.
They should not have sold Americans out.
This guy is definitely my candidate. Now if we can get Col West on the ticket it would be unstoppable. Couple that with Rove and Priebus gnashing their teeth helplessly, and it could turn out to be a good year. Hopefully that will lock up the next 16 years, although it will probably take more than that to clean up Soetoro's and that wife of his' mess..
No, we do not “need” 350,000 tech workers. That is a bold faced lie design to appease the corporations wanting cheaper labor. In no way does having cheaper foreign tech labor good for America. If that was the case then everyone can kiss their jobs goodbye because everyone can be replaced by foreign workers.
Explain to me exactly how everyone not having a job is good for Americans?? Go ahead, I’ll wait.
Thanks. Go Cruz!
Ted Cruz is a visionary. He sees and plans things far in advance. In order to turn this country around (not just manage the decline), we have to hit on all full cylinders in every aspect of economy. We will need a highly-skilled workforce to expedite our recovery. As we know, our public education is horrible. What does it produce? Fewer and fewer qualified students for colleges to become highly-skilled graduates (science, technology, engineering and math). It will take a generation or so to produce highly-skilled graduates of our own to participate in our economic recovery. Meanwhile, we have to borrow some of those from other countries.
Go, Cruz, GO!!
11 million?
CRUZ TO THE TOP!
Right - killing Americans that Americans don’t kill.
YW.
As I have long said, it is slavery lite. They are “doing the jobs Americans won’t do...” or at least for less money. Of course once the liberals raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, they will need a new excuse.
He must be speaking to those who've been asleep for decades.
How is it possible people exist who never understood frauds and the unscrupulous running big and small business have bankrolled professional politicians campaigns to ensure those borders stay wide open? They pay these politicians off for this limitless low wage illegal labor. Big $$ here.
Cruz says “No Amnesty for anyone here illegally, EVER”. He has not said what to do with those here illegally after the border is secured, because he realizes that the job of the President does not mean he Dictates their fate. That decision should come from the people through the legislature. I know what I think should happen and I hope that the majority of Americans will agree.
Cruz nai!s it again.
Start teaching your kids Spanish...and learning Spanish law.
Did you have a chance to pray as I suggested?
Cheap labor? End Welfare.
