Dr. (and I use that title lightly) Adam Kotsko, a professor at Shimer College in Chicago, Illinois, thinks that all white people have been “complicit” in slavery, and should therefore “commit mass suicide” as reparation.

Hey Costco, go over to your History Department and first do just a wee little bit of reading about the slave trade.

He needs to read about who exactly owned slaves. There were thousands of BLACK slave owners in the south. Three thousand black slave owners in New Orleans alone.

Who fought a civil war to end slavery?

Nobody. At least not in this country. That is simply propaganda that people have been led to believe.

They fought a war to stop Independence for Southern States. They added "abolishing slavery" about two years after the war had already started.

Here is Abraham Lincoln's position on the subject as of August 22, 1862. He is perfectly willing to continue slavery at this point in the war.

If someone from there didn’t make an outrageous statement on a regular basis we wouldn’t know that it exists. Perhaps the 1.7% of the population that owned slaves fought to preserve it. The other 98.3 of the population fought because someone invaded their homeland.
