You should add an attribution. Ted deserves credit for that quote.
Some of us are maybe older or more familiar with the history than you. During the Bautista days, before Castro took power, his father opposed the dictator’s regime, which meant supporting the jungle rebels they thought to be small “d” democrats. He was imprisoned and tortured for his trouble. That he later escaped Cuba after seeing what Castro was all about makes him just like the many thousands of Cuban Americans of that generation. No reason for concern, and in fact it means his father has seen the raw face of Communism up close and has instilled an understanding of its lies and tricks in his son.
I had the same experience and quickly developed a deep distrust of all reporters. Even when they may not have consciously distorted things for an agenda, they never accurately reported what was said (this despite having a tape recorder running through the interview) and very often reported things as entirely opposite from what was meant. Then I had the opportunity of traveling in a group which included several reporters and discovered them to be the laziest and most consistently drunk people I’d ever met. They were the Delta Tau Chi Animal House fraternity all grown up, graduated with the only college degree they’re sub-average intellects would allow.
New tagline
new tagline with proper spelling
It just goes ta show ya, Larri, that ya learn sumthin new every day!
Back in '96, I went to a Dole campaign stop and was approached by a St. Petersburg Times (now, Tampa Bay Times) reporter-ette. She asked a question," Are you disappointed that Jack Kemp (VP candidate) did not come to this event"?
Instinctively, I saw this as a have-you-stopped-beating-your-wife question. I replied by NOT answering the question, " Bob Dole is the right candidate for president".
She glared at me with a sourpuss and moved on to her next "victim".
Devious scoundrels.
Frankly, I don't know anybody who has had a good experience with the media. Everybody has either dealt with lies or misrepresentation due to ignorance. As a group, journalists simply aren't very smart.
Tried to.....but I would need to shorten the quote and thus damage the point of the quote to get four more characters and a space....I am currently using 100% of the characters allowed.
If you know how I can force the entire quote with attribution into the space allocated, I would be happy to try to do it..
In the last several elections we have not won the argument nor even made the argument - ted cruz
Well....That’s OK, but to attribute that would be a lie, because that is not what he said..
I thought about that and rejected it for the above reasons..
I suppose what I should do, (base on this political correct BS world we are living in today)
Is to simply delete the tagline and indicate my support for “none of the above” in order to avoid controversy.
So like a good little New Amerika Citizen, I will compromise.
Good advice, Ted. But all too many of them are going to ignore it. :(
Don’t do that... I was only trying to help
Not much you could do...the quote needed attribution as a couple people have said.
There was not enough characters to do it...
It’s not personal....just frustration and age showing..
