There are five major medical insurers in America and soon there may be only three. What does this health insurance consolidation mean for the future of healthcare?
Clearly, the sacred and confidential nature of the relationship between doctor and patient is history. Big Money has moved in to stay. The medical insurance 500 pound gorilla is about to consolidate into an even more intrusive and dense trust whichas with the bankswill be too big to fail and far too big to control.
Few know that during the debate over the Affordable (Unaffordable) Care Act, there were eight lobbyists for each member of Congress to influence health reform bills in 2009. Prominently, UnitedHealth Group hired former Senate Majority Leader, Tom Daschle (D-SD) who turned lobbyist, to spearhead the effort to get Obamas legacy through into law. Daschle, who rakes in well over $2.1 million a year, was nominated by Obama to be HHS Secretary, but withdraw his candidacy after a variety of IRS and other ethics scandals were exposed.
President Teddy Roosevelt, known as the Trust Buster, had broken up monster-like trusts that jacked up rates and exploited consumers in the steel, coal and railroads industries, knowing full well that the consolidation of such powerful interests could fix and manipulate pricing.
In 1961 on the eve of JFKs Inauguration, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned the country about the looming threat of the Military-Industrial Complex. We now know that Eisenhower had also intended to insert the word Congressional into his missive: The Military-Industrial-Congressional Complex.
The power of the lobby and todays Super PACs have pretty much made the government into a handmaiden to big business. Hence, we now have the best laws that money can buy!

The worst feature of Obamacare is you are not allowed to buy insurance from out of state. That limits competition and the health insurers love the monopoly. Then you add mandate that you must buy insurance with features approved by Obamacare bureaucracy.

4 simple sentences
Great summary by a Notre Dame University engineer.........
Here are the 10,535 pages of Obama Care condensed to 4 simple sentences..
As humorous as it sounds.....every last word is absolutely TRUE!
1. In order to insure the uninsured, we first have to uninsure the insured.
2. Next, we require the newly uninsured to be re-insured.
3. To re-insure the newly uninsured, they are required to pay extra charges to be re-insured.
4. The extra charges are required so that the original insured, who became uninsured, and then became re-insured, can pay enough extra so that the original uninsured can be insured, so it will be free-of-charge to them.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is called "redistribution of wealth" or, by its more common name, SOCIALISM, or PROGRESSIVE, the politically correct names for COMMUNISM !
Wow! What a brilliant way to raise money to fund a free service. Arent we lucky to have such a brilliant man leading us!
That is priceless, Cobra. Thanks for sharing. Like you said, it sounds humorous but it’s absolutely spot on!
Judging by this story, Obamacare is not a socialist plot but a fascist one. Installing of handing over healthcare to the state, we’re handing over healthcare to the corporate cronies of the state.
We lose either way.
“Installing” —> “Instead”
Because the Health Insurers were big contributors to Obama & other democrats and hence Obamacare was written to reward them back.
That is how our politicians operate. The rich contributors and lobbyists control our politicians. Even Mr. “conservative” Ted Cruz was told to push for the secret Obamatrade bill. Poor Ted, had no choice except obey.
Anyway, keep smiling because they are infectious!
Whatever happened to Anti-trust and Monopoly rules. Going to allow health insurers to become to big to fail, then Obolacare rules will crash the providers. Didn’t some really old white guys talk about monopolies?
