Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Thursday disavowed controversial remarks about immigrants from fellow Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

"I don't think Donald Trump's remarks reflect the Republican Party," Perry said during a speech in Washington outlining his economic plan to support poorer communities.

The idea of Rick Perry is awesome. The reality of Rick Perry? Not so much.....

Perry was OK and not harsh on Trump. Someone’s just trying to stir things up like “let’s you and him fight”.

Open response to former Governor Rick Perry;
Ricky, You are right. Trump’s remarks do not represent the Republican party. Your Republican party sold American Citizens and LEGAL immigrants down the river. Probably the Rio Bravo.
Since Trump does not represent your party and will never be your nominee is exactly why I will be voting third party or just sitting this one out.
I am looking for a president that will represent the citizens of the United States and so far all I have seen is you and your fellow Republican candidates running to represent every son of a bitch on the globe EXCEPT Americans.

Sorry to see Perry shoot himself down in this manner. I think him a decent chap, but not quite up to the real crisis at hand.

Jefferson purchased Louisiana from France, to serve as a buffer between the Anglo & Hispanic elements. (See, for example, An American Immigration Policy. Had he not done so, it is unlikely that the Anglo/Celtic settlers into what was then Northeastern Mexico, in the decades that immediately followed, would have had sufficient numbers to win Texas Independence. Now, please, I am not denying that they had some Hispanic allies at the Alamo, etc.. God Bless them all, but the numbers would not have been adequate.

Hopefully, someone will get Rick Perry to study Jefferson's reasoning, as it was sound then, and is sound now.

I used to like Perry, too. Seems he has a problem. You would think that living in a border state he would appreciate someone actually wanting to address the issue of illegal immigration. Guess this shows he is business as usual.

Attention, Republicans: Illegal aliens and their advocates are NOT going to vote for you. EVER. No matter how much you suck up. Take a page from Trump’s book and start telling the truth. All those millions of whites who’ve been staying home from the polls in disgust just might come out and vote for you then.

But then...they don’t call you the Stupid Party for nothing.

Rick just thinks he is trying to help the Republican Party by pandering to a faulty premise. Gee thanks Rick for your help in trying to herd the RINOs!

Today’s “Republican” “leaders” are like Democrats, only stupider and more ineffective.

I’d have to say I back Cruz too, but it’s not without some misgivings.

I have this almost out of body experience when these guys talk anymore. My radar goes off almost all the time.

Too much of what they say is sound bite driven. The substance of some of their comments is a mere vapor trail.

So while Cruz is my guy right now, I am waiting for someone better.

This may bother some folks. I can see why. I have given it some thought though, and I think I’m taking a rather reasoned stance on this.

Here is a link I was given yesterday to watch Ted Cruz address illegal immigration.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hL0FFJzqxwg

This was my commentary on it. It may seem like I don’t like Ted. It’s just that I am very disgusted with all these guys. I meant it when I said I still see Ted as my number one pick, but it doesn’t stop my frustration.

Perry had better go back and listen to 2 year’s worth of Walton and johnson radio broadcasts, for all the illegal Joses, and what they have done as criminals!

Same here. I once kinda liked the guy.

Now I just don’t want to see his face ever again.

Perry, Your hopeless. I will never vote for you now. What exactly did Trump say that offended you? Is he wrong? Are you just pandering to the radical Latino (Democrats)—they will never vote for anyone but some socialist.
