A NASCAR spokesperson said the request would pertain to "overt displays" of the Confederate flag. If you're a fan wanting to bring in a 15-foot Confederate flag to fly on track property while at a race or are planning to use the symbol as a way to make a boisterous statement, you're likely going to be asked to not do so and possibly escorted out of the track premises.

Ding! Ding! Exactly right. This is an opportunity to PUSH BACK instead of just staying home in silent protest. Besides, NASCAR isn't BANNING the flag, only asking for voluntary compliance. Part of me thinks they're doing that on purpose, HOPING everyone pushes back.

Nonsense! When the Nielsen Ratings come back that no one is watching, all those contracts will e cancelled. “Corporate Money” expects a return on their advertising dollars. Why do you think TV shows get cancelled? Also, empty stands make for bad TV.

Good luck with that! As a certified born redneck I have been to a few races in my time. I only watch on TV now; don’t want to deal with the crowds and noise. Happens when you get older... I have never owned or really cared about the confederate flag; but I can tell you, some of the staunches NASCAR fans that attend the races have and fly the confederate flag. I bet Dale Jrs following will slip after his statement. Sort of like the Dixie Chicks dissing their fans. Maybe not as bad, but there are a ton of Rebel, Confederate flag flying rednecks that support NASCAR
