NASCAR tracks make request for fans to not fly Confederate flag
Sports ^ | 7/2/15 | Nick Bromberg

A NASCAR spokesperson said the request would pertain to "overt displays" of the Confederate flag. If you're a fan wanting to bring in a 15-foot Confederate flag to fly on track property while at a race or are planning to use the symbol as a way to make a boisterous statement, you're likely going to be asked to not do so and possibly escorted out of the track premises.

It would be great if NASCAR had a race and no one showed up!

"NASCAR continues to jumps the shark. I am so over stock car racing."

All motorcar racing is declining. I watched the Indy Car race in Texas on television and there couldn't have been more than 10,000 people in the stands. This is one instance where NASCAR is just biting the hand that feeds it.

Used to camp out in the infields of Darlington and Charlotte all the time back in the 80’s. Infield was awash with Confederate Flags.

I predict more of ‘em after this. :-)

The France family and Dale Jr don't have to worry about me showing up at a track.

I have stopped going.

My #88 shirts are now worn while painting.

My thoughts exactly.

Admittedly, I gave up on nascar several years back when it became overly commercialized and way too political.

NASCAR makes their flag official, and now EVERYONE can take this flag as a 'response'....

Oh, my. This is sure to win over all those people who aren't yet hefting over those ticket prices not yet impressed by Driving-in-a-circle-prowess.

The Peace of Appomattox is wearing thin.

“It would be great if NASCAR had a race and no one showed up!”

If they keep this shiite up, it may happen.

Perhaps it would be best if the rednecks stayed home. I’m sure they don’t want to give NASCAR a bad name. So many racists in one place at one time... (evidently, according to NASCAR)
