Teachers granted power to ‘confiscate and destroy’ unhealthy school lunches

LONDON – The British government is urging school leaders to use their “common law powers” to search student lunches and potentially confiscate any items they deem “unhealthy or inappropriate.”

Education minister Lord Nash tells Express, “Schools have common law powers to search pupils, with their consent, for items.

“There is nothing to prevent schools from having a policy of inspecting lunch boxes for food items that are prohibited under their school food policies.

“A member of staff may confiscate, keep or destroy such items found as a result of the search if it is reasonable to do so in the circumstances.”

From the article: “Schools have common law powers to search pupils, with their consent, for items."

And if the students don't willingly give their consent, then consent will be obtained through other means.

Touch my kids lunch and we’ll solve your issue the Chicago way. You’ll be riding a chair, and eating through a straw wondering who the hell hit you.

So going hungry is more healthy than a small bag of Fritos and a PBJ sandwich?

[[“Schools have common law powers to search pupils, with their consent, for items.”]]

I wonder is students will have the right to strip search cavity search the teachers and principles for ‘cigarettes, drugs, snickers bars, candy, sugar products, pot, doughnuts etc etc etc’

No? Hmmm, seems that invasion of privacy and humiliating searches are only allowed when students get attacked by teachers?

There was a time, when British writers satirized the idea of this sort of totalitarian intrusion into family matters. This is sad; but, even worse, it is totally outrageous.

One must be curious as to the origins of "Lord" Nash, as also, the absurdity of his having such a role in a supposedly "Conservative" Government.

The government’s foray into lunch inspections began when Cherry Tree Primary School in Colchester banned ... scotch eggs from a six-year-old girl’s lunch.

Scotch eggs - my new favorite low-carb breakfast. (Or lunch. Or snack.)

For those unfamiliar with this delight, boil some eggs (preferable a soft-to-medium center, not hard), peel and then wrap completely in a couple ounces of sausage meat. Dredge in flour (and if possible, rest in the fridge for a while), dip in egg wash, and coat with a breadcrumb mix, then deep-fry. (Low-carbing requires finding flour and breadcrumb replacements, of course.)

Awesome hot or cold. Try with a mustard dipping sauce.

Also, a very common snack or "lunchpail" item in the UK. Teachers banning them is an act of ****ing war.

I can think of one control freak wacko mommy that used to be in higher education that would leading the charge if that took hold here.

Never mind that she could stand to skip a few meals...

““There is nothing to prevent schools from having a policy of inspecting lunch boxes for food items that are prohibited under their school food policies.”

Idea: lunch boxes with false bottoms.

Don’t really need a lunch box with a false bottom. Just bring in some correctional officers from the Clinton Pen. They let everything pass.

I see it as a capitulation to the Muslims they have allowed to invade their country. After all, if they don't eat pork, then you can't.
