The Washington Redskins, who play their home games in Landover, Maryland, are running into more troubles due to the franchise's nickname, this time as they try to move back to the nation's capital.

According to Jonathan O'Connell of the Washington Post, members of President Barack Obama's administration will take efforts to block construction of a new stadium in the area until the "Redskins" nickname is changed:

In a way, I am kinda glad that the Confederate Flag took over the conversation from Charleston. I don’t trust Congress not to put in gun control laws for the President. Because of the Confederate Flag, that topic has dropped off the radar to which I am glad. Perhaps if you look at it like the Confederate Flag is taking one for America.

That's why there is talk someone could be waving BIG money at Dan Snyder to rename Redskins the Red Tails, the nickname of perhaps the most famous African-American combat unit of World War II, the 332nd Fighter Group. Which is actually a good choice considering they were considered by many the best pilots flying the P-51 during the war.

Would Phil Knight at Nike (who makes the official uniforms for the NFL) do this by defraying most of the cost of the name change? I think the answer is a loud and emphatic yes.

Of course, if you object to censorship, such as the censoring of the Confederate flag, you obviously wholeheartedly whatever thing THEY say it stands for...such as murdering defenseless black people in the act of worshiping God.
