Albuquerque is getting as bad as some eastern cities with at least several shootings per week. This guy probably had a long felony rap sheet. And the catch and release bail policy puts the crooks back on the street about as soon as they're arrested.
I love a story with a happy ending.
Of course, this guy’s days at Commie News Network are over.
Motel 6???
Six rounds and the perp was still firing? I wonder how many rounds actually hit their target. Two rounds center mass and one to the head should do trick even with a wimpy .380.
Obviously these two were not still on a fancy CNN expense account.
He’s former anyway.
I wonder if they left the light on for 'em ...
I miss the 80's! Dang - a real shoot-out. Motel 6??
This is why range time is important:
“De Caro fired six rounds, and when he was finished the suspect was still firing.”
A contractor where I worked was staying at a weekly Motel 6. He was intending to confront the owner of a dirty old truck that was repeatedly parking too close to his nice car. He arrived at the Motel to find the entire place surrounded by the police. The owner of the truck turned out to be a serial killer who had just killed an attorney he’d tried to rob in a restaurant bathroom. There’s probably a lesson here, but I can’t figure whether it’s stay away from Motel 6 or pick your battles better. I’d have simply parked further away.
Based on how I read the article, the wife is former but he is active (probably assigned as needed).
He will find he gets no more calls from CNN.
That’ll teach him. He should have allowed himself to be killed along with his wife. That way their employment wouldn’t be jeopardized.
I think I read somewhere that Lynne Russell was a conservative.
This guy is lucky to be alive. That’s why I carry a 40 caliber. Hopefully by the time 7-8 shots fired, the perp won’t be standing, firing, or breathing.

I remember her. Thanks for posting her pic.
A number of cities are putting up Section 8 types at local Motel 6’s. Stay away from ‘rat hellholes.
What was it, .22 short, or Super Colibri? The suspect even made it to the parking lot...
.35 caliber? Well, there’s the problem...he’s at least .05 caliber too short. Never own a pistol that doesn’t start with a “.4”.
I left ABQ in 2002, after having my 3rd grader come home and tell us about a classmate who was suspended for bringing pot to school. I miss it - I did my HS and college careers in ABQ and loved working for the Downs, but had to get out.
