TV Land Pulls ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ Off the Air
Breitbart ^ | 07/01/15 | Kipp Jones

A week after Warner Bros. announced it would halt the production of all merchandise featuring the Confederate flag on General Lee, the iconic car from The Dukes of Hazzard, the show has inexplicably disappeared from TV Land’s lineup.

WB announced the move as major retailers Walmart, Amazon, eBay, and Sears all introduced bans on the sale of Confederate flag merchandise in the wake of Dylann Roof’s Charleston, SC shooting rampage at a black church.

“Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof — as it was seen in the TV series,” a company spokesperson said June 24. “We have elected to cease the licensing of these product categories.”

It now appears the controversy may have driven both the show and General Lee, a 1969 Dodge Charger, completely off the air.

Despite the ban on merchandise, General Lee could still be seen in all its glory twice a day on TV Land, until Tuesday.

A spokesperson confirmed to Entertainment Weekly Wednesday the network has pulled all reruns of the series from its schedule, but gave no explanation as to why.

The Dukes of Hazzard originally aired on CBS from 1979-1985.

Ben Jones, the actor who appeared as “Cooter” for all of its seven seasons, defended the show’s use of the flag last week, and said it was a symbol for the “indomitable spirit of independence.”

“Activists and politicians are vilifying southern culture and our heritage as being bigoted and racist,” Jones said. “We know that this is not the case. And we know that in Hazzard county there was never any racism.”

We must annihilate all vestiges of white culture. White people are the new N-words, but it is OK to be racist against them.

So for fear of being called racist bigots they join with the anti-south/federalist bigots and do something bigoted.

Liberalism is the new hate!

I hear the "Confederado" colony in Brazil needs some fresh faces.

Several years ago I happened to meet a young man from that area of Brazil. Talking with him was like traveling back in time 150 years.

Because it was easier and cheaper to just yank the series than to try to pixilate all the images of confederate flags.

pixilate all the images of confederate flags.

It’s kind of pixilated already.

I noticed that this past monday. For the past few weeks theyve been airing dukes of hazzard starting at 4:36 pm. On monday afternoon I turned on tv land at 4:36 to watch. Only to see the middle of an episode of bonanza.

I looked up the tv schedule on my tv screen and saw a change. Dukes of hazzard now started at 5pm, sharp. Oh well. A time change. No biggie. 5pm came and instead of a dukes of hazzard episode, another episode of bonanza began.

I KNEW what was going on and why. They censored it due to all the recent politically correct fad nonsense over the confederate flag.

If they thought that us dukes fans were going to sit and do nothing and watch bonanza, they were sadly mistaken. I changed the channel and watched something else: the godfather 2 on the AMC channel. A great classic movie I usually drop everything to watch. Except for dukes of hazzard. If they had continued to air dukes of hazzard, I wouldn’t have changed the channel.

This is just more of the liberal Left's "Never let a good crisis go to waste" crap. They jumped all over the opportunity that the massacre of the nine people in the AME church in Charleston presented them, to "demand" the elimination of the Confederate flag from the public square. The reason was that there were images of the mentally deranged, wacko shooter holding a Confederate flag on the internet. But I also saw another image of him standing on an American flag, as well, so why no ban it too? I'm afraid our national flag is next in line for these cultural freaks.

This is all about the Left's cultural Marxim of political correctness. Rather than saying they don't like the Confederate flag and don't condone the display of it and moving on, they are the cultural fascists who say eliminate it, nobody can see it or have it in their possession. If they don't like it, then nobody will be able to have it. Free country? I think not.

What bothers me the most, is NOT so much the demand to take it down from the public square, like in front of the the statehouse in South Carolina, even though as a state they should have that right. After all, there is no federal law abolishing or banning the Confederate flag. What bothers me the most is the public caving of all of these companies that have gone along with this BS and are banning the Confederate flag, images on t-shirts, on decals, on TV on everything in sight. Like lemmings going over the cliff. Stumbling all over themselves to get on the "bandwagon" of political correctness and do what the Left says. Don't these companies know how stupid they look trying to appease the Marxist Left? It's disturbing to see even NASCAR ban it. Their fan base is the majority of the people in the south. The same goes for this recent ruling by the Supreme Court legalizing gay marriage. Every website on the internet, it seems, has gone rainbow. And yet these folks only make up 1.3% of the US population. Anybody else see a problem with this?

This is nothing more than the Left trying to eliminate and erase the history of this country that they don't like, from their view. They don't like the South and the people who live there, so this is a way to get back at one of their symbols of their heritage. Somebody joked that "Dixie" cups are next on the banned list. I'm waiting for Aunt Jemima syrup and Uncle Ben's rice to be banned for offending blacks.

Last year, I met African-American actor Ernie Hudson, most famous for his role in the "Ghostbusters" films. But I didn't ask him about that role. Instead, I asked him about a 1982 episode of "The Dukes of Hazzard," in which he appeared. He described the experience as one of the funniest of his career.

Hudson: "Sometimes you’re acting on the emotion of what you’re expecting to happen. And none of that happened. It actually turned out nice.”
