John Boehner, GOP Establishment Targeting Ted Yoho

The Republican leadership is after U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla., but the North Florida congressman is trying to use that opposition to rally conservatives in his district.

Yoho made national headlines earlier this year when he challenged U.S. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, to lead the House. While Yoho did not garner much support, other challengers to Boehner -- namely U.S. Rep. Dan Webster, R-Fla. .-- received more votes but the speaker retained the gavel.

The House leadership pushed back at Yoho by cutting off travel funds, much like they did with U.S. Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, another outspoken conservative opponent of Boehner.

As reported last week, the leadership kept Yoho from attending the Summit of the Americas in Panama earlier this year.

Yoho insisted on Tuesday that Boehner and the leadership was targeting him.

“The establishment is looking to recruit a candidate to challenge me, our team, and ultimately what we stand for,” Yoho informed supporters on Tuesday morning. “We've worked too hard for too long to let that happen.

Despite the opposition of Boehner and the leadership, Yoho noted he would “continue to reject the status quo and put America first.”

After decades of work as a large-animal veteran in rural North Florida, Yoho burst onto the political scene in 2012 when he defeated then-U.S. Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., who served 24 years in Congress, in the Republican primary. During the 2012 primary, Boehner backed Stearns, hosting a fundraiser for him in Clay County. Yoho responded in kind when he took his seat in Congress in early 2013, voting against Boehner to lead the caucus.

We're probably gonna find out one day in the future about how a former Speaker of the House was indicted for lying to Federal Agents when he was questioned about structured large withdrawals from his bank accounts. Probably in the millions of dollars range (from a worker whose salary is $174K/year).

Does this sound familiar? Is our own current problem child acting erratically? Is he going against the collective wishes of constituents throughout this country?

What's it gonna be? A bar maid with a love child? A male bar-back with some pictures and tapes? Some Swiss Bank Account or one of these countries in the Caribbean? Evidence of some hit-and-run death? Trips with Bill to Fantasy Island?

Maybe. But I still think he was just always a liberal and played his role as a pressure valve. Now it’s not needed because the GOP voter base proved two elections in a row that they will vote for liberals with R’s attached just so they cal claim they won.

Romney was not an anomaly. The GOP voter base proved they want liberal governance two elections running. In an off year election they voted for liberals to rule them AFTER both this guy and Mitch CAMPAIGNED on working WITH Barry.

Thus Jonbon governs the way the GOP voters indicated they wanted to be governed with their vote. The only thing that ultimately matters.

They mistook what put them in the fantastic win category last November. I believe it was those conservatives who decided to try one more time - the ones that sat out McCain and Romney. Uhhh...for anyone in the GOP to be re-elected to the HOR, I'd think being targeted by Boehner and his goons would be a pre-requisite. And anyone who voted to keep Boehner as Speaker sure has some explaining to do.

Amen. Ted needs to examine the defeat of Boehner's right man--Eric Cantor.

Then-House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor (R-Va), was considered untouchable and inevitable.

My “one more try” was for a Congressman and a Senator and it wasn’t be cause I’m a gullible sheep who believed anything “they” had to say.

Had November been about a candidate Bush, I’d have sat it out. I didn’t do the “one more try” to give Boehner any more power, I did it to help put in more opposition to him. The same thing for my new Senator and McConnell. I’m not saying it worked, but it wasn’t because I ever wanted to give Boehner or McConnell “one more try”.

As far as I’m concerned SoH and SML are bigger enemies to me than Obama, and when they help Jeb Bush get the nomination it will be number three in a series of losses.

Ad how did that work out? Was it a strategy? No. It was a hail Mary that caused more problems than it solved. Because it solved no problem.

This is why we have to stop doing that. A lot of people heard the same excuses you heard and were convinced to give it ‘one more try right? Well? how then is that behavior not ‘sheep”?

Look. I was a sheep for years myself. I contributed to this mess too. I do not and never have or will deny that. I am ashamed of it. Bit it’s true and it’s true for us all. We need to admit it if only to ourselves and STOP making the same stupid sheepish maistakes that put Bhoner and his not so lesser evils into power.

If we cannot collectively admit we made a mistake how are we supposed to fix what we don’t even believe happened?
