The CDC reports that the estimated lifetime treatment cost for HIV is $379,000 (in 2010 dollars). With treatment, HIV+ people can live 30 years or more. Without the expensive treatment, life expectancy post-infection is about 12 years (ten years until onset of AIDS, two years to die from it).

With gay marriage, an HIV+ man can get access to another man's health insurance. I suspect a major factor behind ObamaCare's "pre-existing condition" coverage, is so that HIV+ men could get the expensive treatment.

What this will do is force employers to push people off on the government healthcare exchanges all the more rapidly. This English professor will find out real soon. Universities all over the country are looking at doing it.
