Exactly. I despise the gay mafia as much as anyone... but accuracy in reporting is important here.

Do you mean New Testament? The Old Testament was already complete long before Christ taught from it. In more than one statement He listed the components of the scriptures that had been written to date. (Note the term “all the Scriptures”.)

Luke 24:25-27, 44-45
Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Moses, Prophets, and Psalms were the general divisions of Old Testament Scriptures used at that time. The disciples knew exactly what He meant by these terms. And we know today.

Further, regarding homosexual sex, this is just one act that falls into the category of fornication which Christ spoke against frequently. Marriage cannot be based on a relationship that is in essence fornication, such as sodomy, so Christ listed fornication as the sole grounds for divorce. Christ also spoke of the destruction of Sodom as a literal event which He said would be characteristic of the time in which He will return and for the same reasons.

Matthew 19:9
And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for fornication, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.

Luke 17:28-29
Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

Good, quick compilation—thanks.

Of course, gay marriage by definition changes the inclusion in fornication.

I repeat, that which was chosen to be included in the OT was not decided until centuries AD. But, one who chooses to either follow all the dictates of the OT or even all the dictates to everything known as “scripture” in his time is being logically consistent. The logic of those who pick and choose on their own, however, I posit is significantly weaker.

>>>I am also cognizant that not everyone agrees that all the prohibitions of the Old Testament—e.g., including dietary laws—are required for all believers in Christianity.

Well, thank the Lord we do not have to rely on the Old Testament alone to see what He thinks about homosexuality. If one is inclined to actually know what God said, one (that means you) could actually read Matthew 19:4-6, Romans 1:18-32; 1 Timothy 1:9, 10; 1 Corinthians 6:9 and Jude 1:7.

And woe to the one who equates agreeing with God to hate. People are not "hating" when they disagree with homosexuality and the same sex marriage debate. They are agreeing with what God said long ago. God doesn't change. Homosexuality is an abomination to Him. If you disagree with that or call it "hate"...well you are against God. Period. I care not what your words says...you are opposing God...and that will not end well for you.

Interesting, now I know where that comes from and why my divorce doesn’t cause me to be an adulterer.

I guess I can take communion now.

Technically, it was defaced.

Practically, it was a couple of white boys with nothing to do.

No ‘teens’ involved.

That is false. The Pentateuch, which contains the teachings and laws against homosexuality, was accepted as God's Word shortly after it was written by Moses. The LXX was translated by scholars who viewed the Books of the OT as God's Word by 3rd Century BC. However, the Hebraic texts were viewed as Canon much earlier. When and what the church decided to include has no bearing whatsoever on when God decided to include it...which was when these inspired texts were penned.

And I am pretty sure God put the Stamp of Disapproval on homosexuality when He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah...which was long before Leviticus was written. In fact, it's likely that God sent the flood because of homosexuality (in part)...and it's also the reason the LGBT movement uses the rainbow...to mock God.

You two do realize that a good number of leftist groups have fully embraced the imagery of anything devil related to intentionally piss off Christians right? They don’t believe in a devil any more than God. But they know it tweaks our side.

You can probably expect that very image to become a flag itself as the SS ramps up.

This church is on the main road into town from where I live. What’s a bit funny about the bottom pic at #3 is that there is usually a cop car parked just to the left of the red sign arrow waiting to nail drivers who missed the speed limit change sign just beyond the curve in the background.

“I repeat, that which was chosen to be included in the OT was not decided until centuries AD.”

When Jesus of Nazareth stood up in the temple or synagogues to read Scriptures, there were specific writings that were known as the Scriptures. These were categorized into three divisions: Moses, Prophets, Psalms. There never was a consensus as to other Jewish writings and Christ never affirmed any of these to be Scriptures. As I cited, these categories were regarded by Christ and the Apostles to be “ALL of the Scriptures” that had been written up to that time.

On the other hand, as you mention what is being “decided” to be canon centuries later, in a certain sense it is still undecided. That is, there is still disagreement in Christendom today. But the passage I cited shows that the Scriptures were identified and agreed upon during that time.

“But, one who chooses to either follow all the dictates of the OT or even all the dictates to everything known as ‘scripture’ in his time is being logically consistent. The logic of those who pick and choose on their own, however, I posit is significantly weaker.”

This is one of the earliest debates in Christianity. The outcome is recorded in the book of Acts. Do Christians need to keep the Law of Moses? Do Gentile converts to Christianity need to become Jews?

The outcome recorded in Acts is that Gentiles can become Christians without becoming Jews. It was understood without question at the time that Jews could become Christians without abandoning their Judaism.

The leaders wrote to Gentile converts and reaffirmed what the Old Testament always had required of the Gentiles (who were not converts to Judaism): abstain from fornication, idolatry, and blood.

This last admonition was the sole dietary prohibition to Gentiles which has been in effect since God granted to Noah the right to eat meat. Before the deluge people were not permitted to eat meat. Afterward, when God permitted using animals for food, He commanded to remove the blood first and not consume it.

So it is not a matter of Christians picking which Old Testament laws to follow. The dietary prohibitions, customs of circumcision, etc. that Moses gave to Israel are ones that apply to Jews. Jews who become Christian should continue to observe what Moses commanded for Jews. Gentiles who become Christians should observe what the Old and New Testament instructs for all people.
