Gay marriage: Supreme Court validates social reality, experience of most Americans

In knocking down the last remaining barriers to same-sex marriage in the United States, the Supreme Court announced a conclusion that, according to every measure of public opinion, a substantial majority of Americans have already reached: there is no longer any justification for denying the dignity and protections of civil marriage to gays and lesbians.

The decision is consistent with the American constitutional principle that government must provide strong justification – that is, it must point to serious and concrete harms – before it denies a fundamental liberty such as the right to marry. On this point, the arguments of the states that continued to deny marriage equality were tested in the crucible of litigation, and they were found lacking in evidence and logic.

the VAST majority of the country has absolutely no idea about the homo culture.

if you want to educate them, have them turn off the adult filter on google images and search for ‘folsom street fair’

have them do it at work, since the images are all from public streets and are deemed ‘safe’ for children by the left

There is no dignity in being obsessed with your pee pee and defining your self and life by this obsession.

I think it was Rush who discussed a poll indicating that a large number of Americans believe that homosexuality is far more prevalent than it actually is.

It has been like going to a football game and even though the other side scores the announcer just keeps claiming a win for your team. Over and over and over until the crowd thinks it must be true. So the Ref calls it a win for your team and everyone goes home not sure what happened. Truth lost and emotion won.

Is it a newscaster’s job to criticize or just report the facts? Just playing devils advocate here......

The homofascists aren’t going to behave in a very dignified manner at their civic gay pride marches this weekend. Public sex, public nudity, attacks on religion (signs, costumes, etc.).

The restraint they’ve had to show the last few years publicly to get this rammed down our throats you know has been killing them.

There is no dignity in perversion. Only a pervert would try to characterize sodomy as dignified.

There is also no truth to the false statement that a majority of Americans support gay marriage.

I bet most Americans don’t know any gays and don’t know any seeking to get married.

This reminds me of the news media being shocked when Nixon won the presidency...all their friends were against him so in their reality all Americans were against him.

I've heard polls that peg it over 30%. Ten times higher than reality. Somewhat lower percentage than the number of gay in newsrooms pushing this crapola.

It was the same in 1994 when the GOP won the House and made Newt speaker. Nobody in the media even knew a Republican and didn’t know how it happened

Charles Krauthammer did refute that notion on Friday during a debate; he noted that judges imposed their will in most of those 36 states.

Oh I know. My state (MI) was one of the defendants in this “final” case.

However there will be more cases fought because we passed a law that protects many from prosecution for refusing to violate their religious beliefs.

While privately appalled with the whole notion of so-called “gay marriage”, my My “public” issues with are primarily two-fold: 1) What happens to the kids that are inevitably adopted by gays, and 2) What happens to small-business owners that refuse to have perversion (and that’s what it is) going on under their roof? I can just see a bed-and-breakfast denying accomodations to rump rangers....

It’s going to get ugly. Remember that desegregation was accomplished under the threat of goobermint violence.

The questions asked determine the answer. Marriage is not about dignity and protection for those who marry;. Since children cannot result from unnatural relationships, no society in history has treated those as if they had a connection to marriage. Marriage is not supposed to be a contract to benefit the couple or a source of social dignity. Real marriage receives special recognition because it is a protection for children. Infertile of childless heterosexual couples can still marry mainly because it's too difficult a point to decide at the time of marriage. It's not difficult to tell that gay couples, which is why their "marriages" have never been and never will be real.
