Big business on winning side in U.S. top court's major rulings

Big business was on the winning side in the U.S. Supreme Court's two major cases of the year, with hundreds of employers pushing hard in favor of gay marriage and the healthcare industry backing the insurance subsidies available under Obamacare. The court on Thursday rejected a conservative challenge to President Barack Obama's healthcare law on a 6-3 vote and, a day later, ruled 5-4 that gay marriage should be legal nationwide. Both cases were largely seen through the lens of national ideological wars, with liberals backing gay marriage and Obamacare and conservatives opposing them. But the cases could also be seen as pro-business rulings by a court with a reputation as friendly to corporate interests under Chief Justice John Roberts.

Wait ‘till they begin asking job applicants about their religious affiliation.

Taqiyya works both ways. I have no compunction about lying to an intrinsically dishonest government - especially when my life is at stake.

We live in a corporatist state.

Exactly. And why do CEO's care about gay marriage?

Is it because it is in their businesses' interests, or because the CEO's happen to agree for personal reasons?

Who appoints the CEO's?

In all this back and forth the past 2 days concerning homosexual union and what can be done to curb it, we forget only a month ago business took its stand in Indiana. We are not only taking on a rogue court and crooked politicians, we are taking on increasingly aggressive corporations that already own the federal government and will pressure states to conform to the lack of morality of the day. The battle fronts are increasing in other words.

Tiered ownership concerning shareholders allows for more control with less ownership. Thus, CEO’s and such have enormous power concerning social actions and such.

Big business on the winning side? Gee, I’d never guessed it on my own.

This is one of the prime reasons I’ve made such an effort to stop purchases of big-corporation products. I go to great lengths to patronize only local, independednt businesses, and then buy small-company items. It’s not 100% foolproof, but I’ve managed to make a lot of serious inroads, percentage-wise.

As corporate America has gone all-out to embrace amnesty and fag-marriage, I don’t want a single dollar of mine going their way if I can help it. As the Indiana/Pence incident proved, these companies are nothing less than an enemy to what I value and believe in.

How many shares are held by government or quasi-government entities? How many shareholders consider these issues when they vote? Would profitability really be impacted if Apple or Google's CEO's were arch-Christians instead of arch-secularists?

Big Business is as much a threat to liberty as Big Government.
