access to the crash site was hindered by hazardous materials for at least a full day after the crash.....I must have seen too many movies. I thought that any hazardous materials would have been consumed by the fireball of the crash.

They are called “corkers” in Air Force lingo. Somebody else will have to explain what that means. I think it has to do with the composites in the body of the aircraft when it burns and expels some sort of residue
