Yeah, I thought that too for a while. Fact is preserving slavery was a big, if not only, factor prompting the Civil War. Put another way, it wasn’t NOT a significant factor.
Do you see what is happening? The South is an enigma. It doesn’t fit into this one size fits all Union very well. The South was drug back into this Union at the pint of a bayonet. But the differences remain.
So what? Slavery was legal in this country under the American flag. Do you support destruction of American history and icons from that period?
