Boehner-vs.-Freedom-Caucus Battle Escalates

June 24, 2015 House Speaker John Boehner on Wednesday endorsed one of his chairmen stripping another member of his subcommittee chairmanship for voting against a procedural motion, the latest and most high-profile jab in the battle between GOP leaders and far-right conservatives.

Boehner told a private meeting of House Republicans that Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Jason Chaffetz made the right decision when he demoted Rep. Mark Meadows last week after Meadows joined 33 other Republicans in voting against a rule governing debate on trade legislation the week before.

"We have the majority, and when it comes to procedural votes in the House, the majority has to stick together and vote for or against, whatever the case may be, those procedural motions," Boehner told reporters after the meeting, paraphrasing his remarks behind closed doors. "The chairman made the right decision, and I told my members I supported that decision."

Other members in the meeting spoke up to defend Boehner and Chaffetz's position, including Education Committee Chairman John Kline and Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who both said that members who vote against rules are not being team players. But the speaker did not go unchallenged, according to sources in the room.

Rep. Jim Jordan, leader of the House Freedom Caucus, which was responsible for organizing the rebellion against the trade rule, spoke up to defend the 34 Republicans who voted against the rule. He said the rule was a vote of conscience because it inserted rules for debate for the trade measure into a rule governing debate on a separate issue, and therefore should not have been treated like every other rule. Rep. Morgan Griffith, another member who voted against the rule, made similar remarks.

Morgan Griffith’s case is a good example of the insanity of Boehner’s team.
Morgan’s predecessor was a long time, well-placed Dem who was booted after voting with his Leadership to damage the local coal industry.
Morgan is an experienced politician who wants to “go along to get along” as much as conscience will allow. Boehner is making it impossible for him, and many others, to do that!

“As Boehner told reporters Wednesday: “I’m sure the family conversation will continue.”

There are “families” like the one boehner describes. However, they’re usually broken up by child protective services with the parents being led away in handcuffs.

Boehner’s next move is rewarding Dem’s support by giving them chairmanships?

Morgan was high up in the leadership hierarchy in the VA House of Delegates. Good man, was sad to lose him to DC. Would take him in a NY second over the kleptocratic piece of detritus currently running things.

This rule effectively strips 16% of the constituency of representation on a series of very far reaching international agreements, so yes, it is our business and we want our representatives to be responsive to constituent wishes.

There are plenty of other things that make this procedural rule our business, but this for a start is a pretty good one.

He doesn’t need to as he, in effect, accomplishes the same thing by placing Republican Chairman who are “collegial” with their ‘RAT counterparts in their committee/sub-committee.

Boehner is the ruling elite’s man in the House-—nothing more. He works for them; he does not work for the American people.

Yes, he’s a politician and a good one.
When the likes of him can’t put up with Boehner, it’s good evidence that Boehner is committing the one unforgivable DC sin: bad politics!

Vote FOR America every chance you get. And get Boehner out whenever you can. Fight fire with fire. Anyone in your caucus who votes Bonner for speaker when you next get a chance to vote him out, kick them out of your caucus. They are moles.

The ballot box is not working with a rare exception to an occasional
win, such as voting out Eric Cantor.

I wish there were an answer to defeat entrenched DC elites.

The ballot is not working.

From the article:This is about as wrong as it can be. Duly elected REPRESENTATIVES are there to represent, not to "stick together."

This is indicative of the cancer that is eating at our government. It needs to stop NOW!.

We have one stellar Rep in VA: Dave Brat. Morgan Griffith is very good. Forbes can rise to the occasion every now and then. And the rest aren’t worth a bucket of warm spit.

The reason why Dave Brat's defeat of the despicable & duplicitous Eric Cantor succeeded was Brat's realization that he could NOT compete with Cantor dollar for dollar. He made up for it with hard work, organization and enthuiastic volunteers.

Brat did it by waging ASYMMETRICAL POLITICAL WARFARE. Instead of trying to match the well funded Cantor in paid advertising Brat and his volunteers met the voters FACE TO FACE. They educated the voters on Cantor's duplicity and his advocacy of Amnesty. This can be repeated in many locations at the House of Representatives level. We must conduct guerrilla political warfare...we must live with and connect with the voters, one or a handful voters at a time. It's hard work but it can succeed. LET'S NOT BE DEFEATIST!

What a Rep!
Ironically, a major reason for Boehner pushing liberal “high donation” issues like Obama’s TPA is to get money to defend his RINOs in primaries... so no more Dave Brats come to congress.

When the orange crybaby was up for House Speaker again, I wrote a letter to my rep here in PA demanding he vote for a conservative like Judge Gohmert and not Bonehead. After my rep reelected Boner, I get a letter back explaining why... and it was this same “we have to stick together” bullcrap.

I am not going to vote for this “representative”, actually maybe I will campaign against him when the time comes.
