The debate over the rebel flag that began anew after last week's church shootings in Charleston, S.C., has morphed into a full-blown Confederate controversy.
While Stars and Bars have long been associated by many with slavery, the latest campaign to remove Confederate emblems has extended beyond the flag to statues, memorials, parks and even school mascots. Never has the debate over what symbolizes heritage and what stands for hate covered so much ground, as efforts to strip icons that have been part of the visual and cultural landscape of the South for decades are afoot at national, state and local levels.
In one Arkansas town, the school board voted unanimously Tuesday to ban the song "Dixie" for the next school year and phase out “Rebel,” the school’s mascot.
“It came to our attention that the public has been pretty upset about the Confederate flag, which has already been removed, the rebel mascot [and] the playing of the ‘Dixie,’” Fort Smith, Ark., school board member Susan McFerran told reporters after the board voted for the changes.

There is some reason for all this feigned outrage over "all symbols of the Confederacy" that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with symbols of the Confederacy.
We damn-well better keep our eyes on the ball or we'll soon find ourselves hugging the "stars & bars" while our opponents are spiking the ball in the end zone.
The democrat party is a symbol of the confederacy. Ban it

With the Dems, the truth doesn’t matter- it’s all about feeeeelings, however wrong they may be.

This book burning frenzy is idiotic. I am amazed on how the media can stir up simple minded dolts to be so distracted.
Yep. This follows the template of Mao’s cultural revolution. Destroy the icons of your political opponents and replace them with your own. Destroy the history of a people to take away their cultural identity so you can replace it with one more to your liking.

And the only reason they did that was because the black people of Charleston did not burn their city down to give them headlines for a week.
So, they manufactured a crisis and hope that this will drive another white person to go on a shooting rampage.
We all thought the war against the Confederacy was over! We’re just gearing up for Civil War, part II.
Meanwhile, gay flags are popping up everywhere.
I can’t wait.
