... But as soon as he pressed play on his way home, he was shocked out of his anesthesia-induced stupor: He found that he had recorded the entire examination, and that the surgical team had mocked and insulted him as soon as he drifted off to sleep.
And in addition to their vicious commentary, the doctors discussed avoiding the man after the colonoscopy, instructing an assistant to lie to him, and then placed a false diagnosis on his chart.
After five minutes of talking to you in pre-op, the anesthesiologist told the sedated patient, I wanted to punch you in the face and man you up a little bit, she was recorded saying.
When a medical assistant noted the man had a rash, the anesthesiologist warned her not to touch it, saying she might get some syphilis on your arm or something, then added, Its probably tuberculosis in the penis, so youll be all right....
The jury awarded the man $100,000 for defamation $50,000 each for the comments about the man having syphilis and tuberculosis and $200,000 for medical malpractice, as well as the $200,000 in punitive damages. Though the remarks by Ingham and Shah perhaps did not leave the operating room in Reston, experts in libel and slander said defamation does not have to be widely published, merely said by one party to another and understood by the second party to be fact, when it is not.....
Ingham suggested Shah receive an urgent fake page and said, Ive done the fake page before, the complaint states. Round and round we go. Wheel of annoying patients we go. Where itll land, nobody knows, Ingham reportedly said....

This didn’t happen in Canada it happened in Vienna Virginia.
I would also want to know what was said, what they found and how it matched. Physicians are frequently doing several of these in sequence and it is easy for them or their recorders to forget or transcribe the procedure and findings.
The procedure is frequently recorded for them to refer to later.
Well, he just did. Many people relate better to a story told them than instructions they read. Yes, those instructs are pretty detailed, but they are usually written in kind of clinical language and they take a bit of “tuning in” to understand.
The video clearly states that the patient wanted to record the doctors instructions so he wouldn’t forget them. He left the recorder on during the whole procedure.
Medical workers that are democrats?.....
If they are democrats.. WHAT ELSE do they don’t know?..
The odds of a democrat HATEING a republican is great..
Not disliking, differing with... BUT HATEING..
Best to utter the least possible when dealing with medical personnel..
If they are democrats their cheeze done slid off their cracker..
They all should have had their licenses yanked. They should never be allowed anywhere around patients again.
I’ve had a colonoscopy, and like your oncologist, I wasn’t drugged.
Six months later someone in thst office started billing me for a $50 copay fee for a procedure that was accepted from the get go as being preventive and 100% covered.
Hospitals regularly bill “old people” for procedures insurance covers..
in hopes the “victim” will pay them as well...
You never hear of the rogue money being returned...
I use the VA, so it’s almost entirely military veterans, as far as driving yourself, sometimes you need to decide that it isn’t their business.
I listened to the recording and didn’t think much of it. It seemed more like light hearted banter.
Yikes.
The sexual aspect implied was off base, not the patient choice one way or another. See your post.
A female TSgt was prepping the room and me and was shadowed by some cute little female A1C fresh out of tech school.
When it came time to lube and insert, the female TSgt said to the A1C, “We don't perform this part, we call in a male technician to do this. We do females.”
Whew.
She promptly called a male technician and I noticed the females didn't leave.
When the male technician started to do the deed, the female TSgt provided instruction to the female A1C (”Get close now, make sure you can see clearly, see how he is XXXX XXX XXX, etc”).
Kind of embarrassing. . .
My doc records the process and takes snaps of any finds and conditions.
Yeah.
My last one I dealt with a very cute, pleasant young nurse. I told that in case I didn’t wake up again, that I loved her. LOL
She said she remembered me from the last one when I said the same thing.
Touching gesture that was calming and appropriate.
As I came to, I was repeating my name, rank and serial number. Had some deep programming at one time. Concerned the staff so much they asked my wife if I suffered some sort of trauma and/or was a POW.
This was in Virginia. Virginia law requires only one party’s consent to record a conversation. What he did was legal.
I could imagine what they hear when people are under. The main point is that you are vulnerable when sedated.
It is the height of professionalism for the staff and doctors to recognize this, treat you with dignity and act appropriately to make you comfortable and reassured.
No intended to slander this guy, but he must have been a douche for everyone to make fun of him.
Indeed.
