San Diego lawmaker now wants to rename Robert E. Lee Elementary School

SAN DIEGO — A lawmaker called Tuesday on the San Diego Unified School District to change the name of Robert E. Lee Elementary School because of the namesake’s ties to the Confederacy.

Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez, D-San Diego, sent a letter to SDUSD Superintendent Cindy Marten that referred to the shooting deaths of the pastor and eight parishioners of a historic black church in Charleston. The school district did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the issue.

The attack is being investigated as a hate crime. The 21-year-old accused gunman, who is white, had posed with a Confederate flag in photos posted online.

South Carolina’s governor has since called for the Confederate flag to be removed from the statehouse.

I thought Lee was paroled and eventually pardoned. Why persecute someone who received a Presidential pardon?

They won’t be satisfied until Mumia Abu-Jamal gets his pardon.

There is more carnage of black people on a slow weekend in Chicago than there has been in years of murderous madmen in South Carolina who never even mentioned the Dixie flag.

Does anyone else see what’s happening?

There is NO SPENDING LIMIT on the Race Card. No expiration date, no ID check, NOTHING.

And people on the Right have shown they are PETRIFIED of it EVERY SINGLE TIME!

And the Left SEES THIS! They know the race card will work every time it’s pulled.

And now, people are running terrified of the Stars and Bars, because the Left is screaming RAAAAACist - and they will eagerly throw away heritage and history to save themselves and still be liked and invited to parties.

COWARDS.

A woman sends a letter to a woman to remove the name of a white man...

If genders were reversed the tv feminazi’s would be crying sexism for a month.

Erasing of all symbols of anything other than the Borg. Start first with anything that connotes difference or recalls heritage. Eliminate the symbols of history and you eliminate the ability of the citizenry to compare what is proposed with what has been done in the past and what has succeeded or failed in the past. If these things are not known than the citizenry will be apt to accept anything their “betters” tell them.

The Left is similar to Islam in that both require the eradication of knowledge of the past and of other ideas.

Does this article seem to be saying this demand to rename the school is a hate crime?

There are some posters on FR who hate Robert E. Lee and would fully agree.

Are we absolutely certain that this Robert E. Lee Elementary School was in fact named for the Confederate general? Is it not possible that it may have been named for some local luminary who was, by dint of sheer coincidence, also named Robert E. Lee?

To further illustrate...the Stupendous Milton Miteybad graduated from a high school named for Robert E. Lee, the Confederate general. However, in his high school graduating class, there was at least one person named Robert E. Lee who most assuredly was not one and the same person as the Confederate general, although he had the exact same name. More to the point, later in life, Miteybad did business with another man who also was not the Confederate general, but who was also named Robert E. Lee.

The point being that there are a lot of people out there with the name "Robert E. Lee."

Excuse me for a moment while I process exactly how a Mexican in California (and I assume she has no American lineage past about 2 generations) has any standing to address anything about the Civil War?

Vicente Fox Elementary.

Even better, name it after Mexican President Plutarco Calles, the one who named his son “Satan”.
