Manchin, Toomey both interested in reviving gun control push

In the wake of the Charleston shooting, Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) are considering ways to renew their failed push to pass meaningful gun control legislation.

In separate interviews Tuesday night at a reception before a ceremony hosted by Sandy Hook families to honor Toomey, they discussed their desire to find a new way forward.

“We want to make sure we have the votes. Pat’s going to have to, and I’ll work with him, to get some of our colleagues on the Republican side,” Manchin said, adding he hasn’t talked directly to Toomey about a revival.

Manchin specifically mentioned an effort aimed at keeping guns out of the hands of people diagnosed with mental illness.

Though the effort is in the early stages, Toomey also said he’s looking for opportunities to reintroduce something related to combating gun violence.

“What I’m trying to figure out is there something that could get the support of the 60 votes that we would need in the Senate,” Toomey said. “Joe Manchin was and is a great partner and someone I will continue to work with and I’m open to exploring what is possible.”

Watch for the Repukes to build on their epic backstabbing of their supporters by supporting new gun controls. The Republican party is Null and Void.

Yeah, medical insurance that is the way they will go. On a related issue, went to a new doc on monday on a referral. Filling out the upteen million pieces of paperwork, I came across a yes or no area. One of the questions was do you drink alcohol? Next question, if yes, how many drinks a week(!) followed by have you ever considered quitting. I asked the receptionist what the hell does that have to do with my foot. I refused to answer any of them and left.

On a related note, my internist has told me to drink one glass of red wine a day as it keeps the platelets from adhering, according to some studies. Wait till the lefties and the nosy get into the business of regulating guns. I can see the questions: Do you own or have access to a firearm? If yes, why. Have you considered getting rid of them. If no, we will refer you to the state confiscation authorities.

I 100% agree with you point: who makes the determination, why and how.

For instance, I take a medication to control my BP. Its other uses are for ADHD. Given over reach by the imperious government, someone would look at that and say, whoa, we have a mental illness i.e. no guns for you.

Okay, how about “more meaningful background checks” to ensure certifiably crazy people are denied legal guns while expressly state that everyone else has full 2nd amendment rights—nationally and in any city—to own, possess, and carry a gun openly or concealed? Preempt any local laws that restrict the 2nd amendment rights of citizens, even if, and especially if they are minorities living in cities.

I no longer recognize the Sandy Hook families as relatives of victims. They are professional politicians and I treat them as such now.

NO MORE VOTES FOR RINOS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

1. A candidate to run against Toomey in the primary in 2016 but if Toomey wins

2. A third party candidate in the general but PA’s system is anti-third party when it comes to signature collection.

3. A write-in candidate in the general election is the last option to exercise and I will exercise it without remorse or regret.

Toomey will never get my vote again. I don’t care who he is running against.

I’ve talked to Pat Toomey. He is no conservative. He is a Wall hack and globalist corporate lackey meaning he kisses the boots of those with tons of crony money and clout.... not fiscal ideology.

He represents an inherent diversion to real conservatives because he was touted as conservative when he is really a neocon crony capitalist. Unfortunately for most average Americans we’ve been led to believe that the supposed left or right is somehow good for us, when the reality is both represent global outside interests who do care one iota about America.
