Exactly. It’s a banner created by Democrats for Democrats, let them decide what to do with it. The only reason it’s an issue right now is the 2016 election- the Dems’ only chance to win is if they can get our voters disappointed or exasperated enough to sit home. And to do that they will need a bunch of these stupid little controversies...death by a thousand cuts.

Because they are all for removing the flag. They are all the same party.
I sense a bit of cognitive dissonance in Free Republic land. On the one hand, we have you and others saying it was “created by Democrats for Democrats.” On the other hand, we have oodles of freepers screaming about sellouts, and reactionaries, and blah blah blah. Are these freepers closet Democrats expressing their true feelings?
Some else prior on this thread said it best. The flag was raised on the 60’s by Democrats to stir racial animosity. If I was one of those it was intended to piss off, and several of my type just got murdered by some monster who was previously pictured waving said flag around, I might have a strong opinion on the subject as well. In light of recent events, I’d hardly call it a “stupid little controversy”.
Only they weren’t killed because they were Christians, were they.

We know why they are here: our welfare lines are shorter than theirs. They are 30-somethings with bad kids, pink hair, loud foul mouths and rude drivers.
