You know what makes America stupid? Politicians with no courage. Why the focus on a flag? Take about a wedge issue and we all just go down the path that the piper makes. Its like the media says “what can we use to make the republicans look racist” and viola, our guys/gals always take the premise and bait and run with it.
I thought it was supposed to be pork that makes you stupid. Maybe it is just all part of the “good-old-boy” culture, the Redneck credo, or something.
Just bitter clingers. Guns, God, and the spirit of the Confederacy, are all anathema to the “popular opinion”.
Really get their knickers in a knot. Whistle a few bars of “Dixie”.
Because it's a visible scapegoat that will allow one side to claim victory and the other side to show their concern while doing nothing to address the root problem. It's the perfect political solution.
