Protesters in South Carolina have begun burning Confederate flags and defacing monuments as the debate as to whether or not the flag should fly over the state's capital intensifies in the wake of Wednesday's brutal massacre that saw nine people murdered because they were black.

Dylann Roof has been charged with nine counts of murder after attending a Bible study class at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston and then opening fire on those in attendance.

It has been reported that when asked to stop during the brutal killings, Roof said; 'No, you've raped our women, and you are taking over the country ... I have to do what I have to do.'

Now, many in the state and around the country are outraged that despite Roof's admitted racial motivation the flag has not been taken down.

Making many even more upset is the fact that Roof frequently posed with the Confederate flag, implying a greater allegiance to that flag than the American flag.

I do. At least the Confederate Battle Flag. The Civil War was fought and lost by the South over 150 years ago. Time to let go, don’t you think?

So this is unique then? First time someone with Roof’s ideology has ever used it?

Of course they are imported protesters. How many are on Soros’s payroll? Did they come from that Texas Pool Party fandango when the Texans wouldn’t have anything to do with them? I would think the So Carolinians might also not put up with them?? It’s got to be imports.

Like Walter Williams (who has the Confederate Battle Flag in his office) said, “To me it means standing up to a too-powerful government”.

Why are so many people letting themselves be played with this flag business? Do they think they have to get all self-righteous and ugly -tha it’s the only response to a tragedy that they can think of?
It is completely beside the point.

The Confederate Flag may represent different values to different people, that doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the more common white supremacist symbols for a reason. Because it has been used by segregationist parties, states and individuals from for the last 70 years to spread a message of hate and will continue to provide cover to extremists until it is no longer celebrated by the South Carolina state government.

I’d always been of the mind that it was about heritage, but maybe it’s time to realize that flag represents Democrat policies and organizations. We have the Gadsden and the like for our rebel spirit.

I have to admit that I don’t feel a whole lot of allegiance to the American flag either at this time in history.

I don’t believe for a second that South Carolina’s flying of the Confederate flag had anything to do with this nutjob’s murder spree. On the other hand, I don’t see why any state government in the Union should fly the flag of a defeated secessionist movement or any other flag but it’s own state flag and the flag of the United States.

I’m tired of kowtowing to Blacks who want all of our monuments removed so they can build monument to “Bloody Sunday” (where nobody was killed).

I’ve had two friends shot in the face by Black teens in separate incidents. One survived and the other did not.

I love the Rebel Flag and I’m not giving it up. And I will continue to honor Southern heroes like Pat Cleburne, Stonewall Jackson, Sam Davis, et al.

Keep it flying!

Protesters in South Carolina have begun burning Confederate flags and defacing monuments as the debate as to whether or not the flag should fly over the state's capital intensifies in the wake of Wednesday's brutal massacre that saw nine people murdered because they were black.

In reality, the above statement regarding the display of the Confederate is factually incorrect.

The Confederate flag does not fly over the South Carolina state capital, and inasmuch as the Confederacy lost the Civil War, and a central issue of the Civil War was human slavery, I would heartily agree with those who believe it shouldn't be flying over the state capital in any official capacity. I would hope that the Federal government in Washington, DC would concur with this view.

It is true, if I'm not mistaken, that the Confederate flag actually does fly on a pole which is incorporated as part of a Civil War Memorial display, and that this Memorial is indeed located on the Capitol Grounds.

At some earlier point not too many years ago, the Confederate flag did fly over the State Capitol building, with the appearance at least of being in an official capacity, and when it did, I believe that was a totally legitimate cause for criticism and concern.

Now that it has been permanently moved, and is on display at the aforementioned Memorial, the Confederate flag is most definitely not on display in any official state government capacity, and anyone one who claims otherwise is engaging in transparent propaganda.

As such, it is my belief that there is little legitimacy to any efforts to totally remove the Confederate flag from this Civil War Memorial.

Having said that, there are doubtless some who would perhaps feel that the Confederate flag should be displayed using some other, less prominent and less apparently official mode of presentation, such as, for instance, being displayed in a case. This is a legitimate position to take, IMHO.

The People should always be as fully informed as possible, but I'm quite sure that many of them sincerely but erroneously believe that the Confederate flag indeed "flies over the South Carolina state capital".

Since the above notion is utterly false, however, the debate over this particular display of the Confederate flag should be carried on only after the People are disabused of this demonstrably false claim.

As always, hysterics tend to cloud the issue rather than clarify it, and those who engage in such tactics probably do not have the People's interests at heart.

Some psycho misuses a national symbol and we're told the national symbol must be removed from the public square.

It is all part of the Left’s jihad to divide the American people along any lines they can think of.

Participate in the Left's Orwellian political correctness if you wish.

I refuse.

Looks like only one monument was defaced (probably by one operative who managed to cover all the liberal talking points, and intentionally misspelled some things to make himself look grassroots), and a bunch of white liberals and a very small number of blacks came out to some staged hashtag protest in Columbia.

I’m interested in hearing what the blacks think.

The white liberals can go back to their Planned Parenthoods and sodomy lattes and thinking that they’ve sacrificed themselves for the greater good of society today (the same self-image as Dylann Roof, who was raised as one of them).
