US Catholics ready to follow Pope's 'marching orders' on climate change

Leaders of the Catholic Church in America took their “marching orders” from the Pope’s encyclical on Thursday, fanning out to Congress and the White House to push for action on climate change.

The high-level meetings offered a first glimpse of a vast and highly organised effort by the leadership of America’s nearly 80 million Catholics to turn the Pope’s moral call for action into reality.

“It is our marching orders for advocacy,” Joseph Kurtz, the president of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Archbishop of Louisville, said. “It really brings about a new urgency for us.”

LOL, knowing Catholic politics is not “hate”.

But ignoring them, is not conservative.

You need to wake up.

He has spun the traditional teaching in just such a way that it can be used by the media. He is not a stupid man, and he knows this.

Pretending that he is not a participant in the distortion just because you can find an authentic kernel of truth hidden deeply inside of his pronouncements is wishful thinking; especially if you do realize he's a Socialist.

This is deliberate. It is the way the Left works. Issue a statement that supports the agenda. If it's accepted, fine. If there's controversy, pretend the people opposing it are reactionaries because -- "hey look this isn't so different from what Irenaeus or Augustine [or George Washington or some other revered figure] once said." Later on, reiterate the claim, all the while pushing your society/culture/country/church or whatever it is, incrementally further to the left.

Look at the evil man, Jeffry Sachs, who has been "advising" him on environmental issues. Then ask if the Gates of Hell have truly not prevailed against your church.

Sachs: "abortion [is a] lower-risk and lower-cost option” than bringing a new human life to the world.

“Good way to lose tax exempt status in the USA”

Unlikely to happen. They will be preaching marxism which will be allowed by this marxist administration.

The dolts do no want to know about Papal infallibility. You can explain it over and over again in the same manner you would try to teach an inbred dog to do tricks. It’s basically worthless.

some scary call to religious war.

That's only because it's their issue.

If the pope told the USSCB to go out and reiterate that the priesthood is only for men, they would turn on a time and refer to it as exactly that.

A religious leader issuing ordinances of science makes as much sense as making a current Indonesian citizen for educational opportunities that never re-established US citizenship the president of the US.

A better question to ask would be why was he elected.

Yes. This is the real question. But it is not merely about Benedict, even though you correctly point out that his purported reason for abdication appears not to hold much water. The real question is: how did a College of Cardinals who elected the first man turn around to elect the second?

I understand; he is speaking to former Catholics (who are no longer in union with Rome anyway). He won’t bring them back with this nonsense.

The problem is that in the Middle Ages the territory under which the writ of the Church ran was universally and culturally, not just apparently, Catholic. That is increasingly untrue. A bad pope matters much more now than he did in 1455.

this pope does not understand the the logical extension of the climate change hysteria that declares CO2 a pollutant is... population control!

when people are defined as polluters, then controlling the size of the population is one method of controlling pollution.

of course this is all pseudo-scientific chicanery, but it doesn’t matter if the schools are allowed to indoctrinate 2 generations of kids into believing it. and that’s exactly what they are doing now. so if you have kids and you haven’t spoken to them about this climate change hoax, then you really have no idea what ideas their liberal teachers are putting in their heads from a young age.

Well, on the bright side, at least here’s one story from MSN-BC that doesn’t portray the Pope giving direction to US Catholics as some scary call to religious war.

we don’t need the media to tell us that...just read some of the comments on this thread...

Correct. It's not a Catholic disease.

Yep. The materialism of this pope is a far more serious issue than even his position on a single important issue.

I honestly don’t think this Pope is wildly intelligent. Certainly not in the same league as John Paul II or Benedict. He needs to concentrate on Catholics and other Christians getting slaughtered all over the Mideast and Africa.
