i suppose it’s just a matter of interpretation but im still not convinced he is admitting lying. “I lied” is different than saying “I said some things that weren’t true”. one could simply be mistaken and that still falls under ‘not true’. I think this guy is still trying to skate around the issue that he is a self aggrandizer. he doesn’t want to publicly state “I lied to make myself seem bigger than I am in actuality”. if he said that then i’d be right there with you. certainly lying falls under “not true” but being incorrect or mis-remembering does as well.

Not defending him. Think he lied many times.

My view: Because you are mistaken does not make you a liar. You are simply mistaken in your belief. However, to deliberately misrepresent, to say something you know to be untrue. . .that is a lie.
