From The Guardian: Pope Francis will this week call for changes in lifestyles and energy consumption to avert the “unprecedented destruction of the ecosystem” before the end of this century, according to a leaked draft of a papal encyclical. In a document released by an Italian magazine on Monday, the pontiff will warn that failure to act would have “grave consequences for all of us”.

Glad I’m not Protestant... Would hate to shelve the tenets of Christianity because they’re too difficult to follow. (How does that sound?)

The Pope’s infallibility is only in maters of faith.

“Destruction of the ecosystem” is not the same as “changing the climate.”

Is this pope mentally retarded? Perhaps he’s a drunk? Something is making him very stupid. Does he not have some keepers?

>> Is this pope mentally retarded?

He’s communist. Like retardation, communism is a mental disorder.

We should pray for his healing. GOD knows francis could use some.

women don’t have to take vows of poverty or celibacy to participate

Indeed. Like college dorm living. Glad I got out when they “opened the windows.”

Pfleger got what he wanted two years ago with a new Leftist, Socialist Pope, and Pfleger now has authority to be as Leftist and Socialist as he desires with the blessing of the new Pope.

Pfleger Hoping Next Pope Is From Third-World Country
March 7, 2013 8:21 AM

CHICAGO (CBS) — Outspoken St. Sabina pastor Rev. Michael Pfleger said he would like to see cardinals pick someone from a third-world nation as the next pope.

WBBM Newsradio’s John Cody reports Pfleger said the church has a unique opportunity as it begins the process of selecting a new pope.

“I would love to see somebody from a third-world country, and the reason I say that is because they would have an understanding of issues that I think are plaguing not just America, but the world; poverty, injustice, and war,” he said.

The late David Wilkerson (Sword & the Switchblade) had an end times vision in the early 70s that was recorded as a sermon and also a book entitled “The Vision”

The message is for such a time as this. Believing Christians must work together to survive what is coming in America. Pray for a national Spiritual Awakening.

They will of course be at a loss to explain why the collection baskets will be coming up so light over the next several months.

Collection plates usually go to upkeep, generally not for causes. The collection plates will survive.

One would think from reading that Catholics the world over are absolutely obsessed with the Pope and his words - obeying slavishly every worldly word. In fact, most people go to Mass and mind their own business. It’s usually non-Catholics who are obsessed with Popes.

The pope is now a full fledged snake oil salesman in the mold of Al Sharpton & Al Gore. He is either stupid enough to buy into this fraud, or he is as corrupt as his fellow agitators.

Either way, he has zero credibility with me. He is just another corruptocrat selling lies to his gullible followers.

How do Catholics feel about being part of a snake oil show?

Personally, I wouldn’t associate myself with such a ripoff & I certainly wouldn’t support it with my money. I will never again see this marxist huckster & the organization that elected him as a force for unconditional good.

Popes will come and popes will go - including the snake oil salemen types. However, the Church is the same as it ever was. It is not a snake oil show. Catholics are not ‘followers’ of a pope. They are followers of Jesus Christ.

The pope is a mere man. This one is as flawed as they come.

>>I’m a Catholic and certainly don’t have to listen to the Pope on this issue. And neither does any other Catholic.<<

Canon 752: “While the assent of faith is not required, a religious submission of intellect and will is to be given to any doctrine which either the Supreme Pontiff or the College of Bishops, exercising their authentic Magisterium, declare upon a matter of faith or morals, even though they do not intend to proclaim that doctrine by definitive act. Christ's faithful are therefore to ensure that they avoid whatever does not accord with that doctrine.”

Canon 753: “While not infallible in their teaching, [Catholic bishops] are the authentic instructors and teachers of the faith for Christ's faithful entrusted to their care. The faithful are bound to adhere, with a religious submission of mind, to this authentic Magisterium of their Bishops.

Geez, what, does a bell go off in your kister every time a Catholic tries to teach the difference between ex cathedra and an encyclical? Just looking at 752, it is simply saying that one should at least read said encyclical before spouting off. I choose to spout off.

Rush is talking about this right now and has a VERY intelligent young woman explaining things right now. Is it Salvation or Mrs. Don-O??? Enquiring people want to know!

You might notice that BOTH of the canons you posted specifically refer to matters of faith and morals ONLY.

There is NOTHING in them that suggests a pope has any authority over scientific matters. If a pope came out and said that 3x3=17 he would be wrong, but this wouldn't diminish his spiritual authority.
