Anti-Semitism Is Running Rampant At California’s Elite Public Universities

Anti-Jewish agitprop has been appearing with alarming frequency on the prestigious, taxpayer-funded campuses of the University of California (UC) system this academic year.

“Unfortunately, anti-Semitism has become fashionable again,” said Joseph Potasnik, a rabbi and the executive vice president for the New York Board of Rabbis, in a statement to the Times of Israel.

“It’s not a big deal to hate the Jews,” Potasnik added. “The first group to get attacked is the Jews.”

Some observers believe the instances of rank anti-Semitism are related to a campus climate which is favorable to boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement campaigns and various advocacy groups which criticize Israel and promote a free and sovereign Palestine. This atmosphere, those observers say, could be creating the intellectual conditions necessary for the acts of anti-Semitism to occur.

“There really is an egregious double standard that, from the perspective of many Jewish students, is perceived as discriminatory towards them,” Tammi Rossman-Benjamin, a Jewish Studies professor at the University of California, Davis and founder of the pro-Jewish AMCHA Initiative, said in an interview with The Daily Caller.

I find this very perplexing. Liberal educational universities across the country are traditionally Anti-Jewish. and the Jewish people in the US continue to vote liberal. Why would they subject themselves to this? To vote in unison with a group that has no love for them? Ironically in the US evangelical, Catholic and Baptist churches would drop everything to help a Jewish family anywhere, anytime. But the average liberal non-Jew would never do anything for a Jewish family. So weird.

Fascinating. Color (brown Palestinian) trumps religion. In the past, if you said the slightest thing critical about Israel or Jews, you’d be blasted for antisemitism by the B’nai Brith and cast beyond the pale.

Now it’s the opposite! Color trumps religion.

I’m well into my 70’s and I have NEVER understood anti-semitism.......I have known bunches of Jewish people over the years and they were always like all of my other friends....some jackasses and some very successful insurance people, doctors, 1 lawyer, many average working types. What difference could it possibly make to me what religion they were or what their heritage was?????

I believe that anti-Semitism is fueled by the realization that God’s presence at Mt Sinai was real. Some can accept that and others can’t. But they all know it’s true. And even despite humanity, God wins in the end.

Israel was originally seen by the left as a way to advance Socialism. Israel was a socialist state.

Now, the Muslims are seen as a more powerful way to advance the goals of the left, and Israel is not as socialist as it used to be.

The left always eat their own.

While Europe has had state-sanctioned anti-Semitism for generations, Germany was the birth-place of "Reform Judaism.' Historically, religious Jews rarely assimilated, but Reform Judaism allowed it, and quite frankly Jews hoped that those with anti-semetic views would finally see them as Germans first. This was one of the reasons so many German Jews were slow to realize what was going on with the NAZIs. For the first time, they thought the government would protect them from the anti-semites, since they saw themselves as "good Germans" first, many of whom fought for Germany during WWI.

They were wrong.
