(FLAKY FATHER MIKE)Pfleger talks in suburbs about gun violence in city
Daily Southtown - Chicago ^ | Jun 12, 2015 | Phil Kadner pkadner@tribpub.com

The Rev. Michael Pfleger was cheered, booed, heckled and given a standing ovation at St. George Catholic Church in Tinley Park. And that was all in reaction to a speech urging everyone to join together to stop the killing of children on the streets of Chicago and throughout the United States. Makes you wonder what the reaction would have been if his topic had actually been something controversial..

Pfleger always sparks controversy. The priest, who has made his home base of St. Sabina Parish in Chicago a stopping-off point for national political leaders and Hollywood celebrities, has a knack for making headlines and creating waves. He has been threatened by members of the National Rifle Association and Chicago cardinals, who have been offended by both his words and his actions.

Flaky Father Mike is always very careful to bring his protests out to the relative safety of the Chicago Suburbs rather than the gang-infested area right outside his church ...

No gun ever caused anybody to commit a wanton killing.

Many many people have misused guns to commit wanton killings. But others have used them properly, to guard and defend what ought to be guarded and defended.

Funny how the people seemingly so interested in root causes can be so shallow here. And any house of Christian faith should know that you don’t blame inanimate things for situations where humans accept the work of demons!

Why is “Father” Pfleger being dug up from the past?
Could it be that interested parties will want him talking loud, harsh and nasty against Hillary Clinton, the way he did in 2008? Next thing you know Rev. Jeremiah Wright will be appearing on The View. Send in the clowns. There aught to be clowns.

Yep. Plays on the emotions of folks, white guilt too, mixed with some facts and some fiction. Chitown has always been violent, will always be violent. Period. That’s its history. The murder rate is half of what it was in the 70’s and 90’s, however the politicians always play with the numbers so you really don’t know what some victims died from. Oh well, when you promote government dependency, illegitimacy, a culture that does not value education and somehow thinks acting like a thug is the way to go (with all the violence it glorifies) the end result is exhibited daily in Chicago and every other Democrat-controlled city in the U.S. Chicago hasn’t had a non-Democrat mayor since 1931, 4 generations of corruption, double dealing, and union thuggery in control. Sounds like it’s not going to change anytime soon. By the way, I lived there almost 6 decades, just moved to a conservative suburb several miles and counties away, and will continue to move when I retire and leave the state of Illinois, almost as bankrupt and corrupt as Chicago and it’s bastard brother, Cook County. Abe Lincoln is spinning in his grave.

Fr. Michael Pfleger (LINK) pastor of St.Sabina's Church in Chicago, is quite a tumultuous SJW very much like his UCC friend Rev. Jeremiah Wright (the Obama family's former pastor). Fr. John Zuhlsdorf (a respected Catholic blogger) calls him a demagogue and an uncontrollable heretic.

I don't understand why the Archdiocese of Chicago tolerates him. I believe the late Cardinal Francis George suspended him (very briefly) from his pastorate a couple of times, but he has never been effectively disciplined, let alone transferred or laicized.

I think it's fair to say that the present Archbishop of Chicago, Blaise Cupich, doesn't really give a flip that heretics control whole parishes in Chicago.

Perhaps we ought to keep in mind that Fr. Pfleger's foster son was killed by random gunfire in the street maybe 15-20 years ago. That may explain his stance against guns. He has principally campaigned against violence in the high-crime neighborhoods of Chicago, tried to drive drug dealers, gangs, and pimps out of the area, forcefully criticized gangsta rappers who glorify street crime and the sexual abuse of women ("hos" and "bitches"), and worked hard to clean up his own neighborhood.

The link above gives a lot more background.

For the life of me, I can’t remember any epidemic of gun violence in Tinley Park. Of course, Jeremiah Wright just moved out there . . .

I remember that name from the sixties or seventies. Of course, he was depicted as a terrible racist by the media. He was right, but that was beside the point according to the race hustlers.

Pfleger is pro-abortion. He has preached many times in the pulpits of pro-abortion churches. There, and at his own church, he has frequently ridiculed pro-life people.

He has deep connections with the gangs in Chicago. When Cardinal George ordered Pfleger out of St. Sabina’s, he got death threats. He backed down.

Cardinal George might as well have resigned the day he wimped out in the face of Pfleger’s disobedience.

With Cupich, all the hard-Left, pro-abortion forces in Chicago have free rein. He is a typical, no-enemies-to-the-left bishop.
