“....It’s not worth the risk.”

Exactly. After Obama”care” who can trust ObamaTRADE?

I’m puzzled by Ted Cruz, especially since he is usually so astute.

FYI: Here are the GOP presidential candidates (alphabetical order) who OPPOSED Obamatrade:

Ben Carson, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, Rick Santorum, Donald Trump.

Of all the trade agreements we’ve already implemented, how many have resulted in more American jobs? Free trade would be great but we’ll never get it by following the globalists.

Sad isn’t it?

In a trust game of Sessions versus Cruz....

What would Levin say?

He’s known Sessions since the late 70s

The bill that the senate and hose have voted on is not secret. It has been posted online for a month or two:
TPA text: https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/1314/text

The TPP is what is secret and is still being hammered out. After it is written it will be available online for public scrutiny for 60 days. After 60 days congress will take it up for a vote.

The ‘urgency’ some have questioned is because the current FastTrack TPA is expiring and up for its 6-yr renewal(which is what they voted on) - our businesses and trading partners need to know our trading terms.

I can’t help but think all of the chaos and confusion is like everything else the tyrant and his progs are involved with - intentional. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Barry’s being for it wasn’t planned reverse psych. Why else would people like Pelosie and those other rad Ds vote against. The ‘courting’ and huddles barry had with them may have been strategy sessions rather than him trying to persuade them to vote for it. JMHO

WTO Rules Against Country-of-Origin Labeling on Meat in U.S.
By James Andrews | October 21, 2014

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has ruled in favor of Canada and Mexico in an ongoing dispute with the United States over country-of-origin labeling (COOL) on meat.

The latest U.S. labeling rules, put into effect in 2013, require meat sold in grocery stores to indicate the country, or countries, where the animal was born, raised and slaughtered.

According to a WTO report released on Monday, the labeling rules unfairly discriminate against meat imports and give the advantage to domestic meat products. But the WTO compliance panel also found that the labels do provide U.S. consumers with information on the origin of their food, countering Canada and Mexico’s assertion that the labels do not serve their intended purpose.

Back in November 2013, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said that the WTO should have the final say on COOL, suggesting that the U.S. might give in to whatever the WTO compliance panel determined.

This is the second time the WTO has ruled against the U.S. in this dispute. After passing mandatory COOL rules in 2008, the U.S. amended COOL in 2012 following an earlier WTO ruling against them.

The Canadian cattle and hog industries say that COOL has cost them combined losses of more than $900 million USD. If the COOL rules persist, the Canadian government has threatened to place tariffs on U.S. meat imports, along with products such as wine, potatoes and orange juice.

The U.S. beef industry has strongly opposed COOL, while organizations representing consumers say that grocery shoppers deserve to know where their meat originates.

I tried to catch up to listen to the audio from Mark Levin the other day who seems to be talking about this all week.

I now realize Cruz is telling the truth. There is probably some truth to what Sessions is saying but it may be biased by what Levin calls too much of a protectionist stance.

While Levin agrees with Sessions on his “No” vote on TPA, Levin made it clear in the 10 June Broadcast (First 20 minutes) that quote “Sessions is too much of a protectionist for him...and that Levin as always been a true free trade person...and that the Union thugs just happen to be on the right side of this issue but for entirely the wrong reason”.

Levin’s biggest issue is that this is being taken up now. The 2 things he wants are the release of the text of TPP and for the GOP to wait until King Obozo is out of office.

We know Cruz wants the text of TPP to be released also and has not taken a side on it. We also know that Cruz’s reason for wanting TPA now is because of what happened in the House yesterday. Even when the details of TPP are disclosed, the combination of the leftist-backing Union Thugs and Protectionists in Congress will prevent TPA from passing. The Democratic Party is so far left now and beholden to the Unions that even with a Marxist in office, they couldn’t bring themselves to vote for TPA. Should Cruz or any Republican become President, it’s clear there is 0% chance they could get TPA passed because the Dems will vote as a block against it and the Protectionists will join them and stifle any legitimate free trade deals.

Let me repeat that for many here: Levin likes Sessions stance on TPA, but does NOT believe it is based on his same reasoning and that their may be hints of protectionism in his support.

Go to the Levin Podcasts for 10 June and 11 June.

TPA is NOT cloture. It gives the authority to the President to negotiate trade deals for an up or down vote in the Congress.

It’s possible TPA could (and probably should pass). It just gives the authority to negotiate leading to an up or down vote with no amendments and a lower threshhold, but by including both Houses of Congress instead of just 1.

After Friday’s vote, it’s clear the Democratic Party is so far left and beholden to their Union bosses, that they couldn’t even support TPA to give their Marxist guy in office. Where on Earth or what country are you from that makes you think any single Democrat beholden to the Union thugs would vote for ANY trade agreement whether it’s TPP or whatnot. This is not the Democratic Party that helped push through NAFTA in the 90s, this is the party of Radical leftist Unions.

Add in a decent number of anti free-trade protectionist Republicans (which Levin has labeled Sessions), and TPP or any trade agreement whether secretive or not looks doubtful to pass both Houses of Congress with simple majorities.

Cruz is right on the issue and his explanation was solid, thorough, and reasonable. Sessions made some key points as well, but as indicated by Levin, some of it may perhaps by over-exaggerated by his protectionist voting history.

There are 5 or 6 trade bills altogether. We need to stop every one of them dead! Each one is progressively worse.
Just hell no to this super/secret/tyranny!

Dishonest. TPA was rigged by Hatch to require 60 votes for disapproval of TPP, with no amendments or filibusters.

I'm not drinking anymore kool-aid from anybody, even Cruz. Sessions was right.

ding ding ding!!!!!

we have a winner!!!!

my thought has always been: how can you be for or against something that you know nothing about????

my take is as follows.. the unions are dead against it, that means that it must be good for the rest of us...

without reading the bill even that statement is subject...

“...he stood for a principle- free trade ...”

Have you ever checked the United States trade deficits, before and after free trade? Have you ever noticed that hardly anything is now manufactured in the United States after the inception of free trade?

TPA exists solely for Obama to get around the Constitutional provision that a treaty requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate. If you notice, politicians will slip and refer to the trade bill as a treaty. TPA is deception.
